Tough crowd. There was nothing wrong with what I saw which was only a portion of the talk.
He addressed complacency and settling. There is always someone waiting to knock you off your perch. So you have to work harder then everyone else. Maintain an edge by remembering where you were and that you are not going back to that place.
It is a good message that translates to many things in life. Cannot wait to see the rest of the video.

It's a Trap!
The Rock is a closet Celtics fan! _________________

But why is it always 7 bucks? Everyone who always tells a story about "I only had X dollars in my pocket"...it's always 7. I've probably heard it from 10 different people. My dad told the same story about how he "came to America with 7 dollars in my pocket". It's always 7!
regardless, our last regime did nothing like this so I'm extremely proud to know that the franchise I support is bringing in mega stars like The Rock and Kendrick Lamar and ELON MUSK to share tidbits of their journey/plans.
I thought Rock did well and while what he said may not resonate with everyone in that room, I have no doubt guys like Kuzma and Randle (who very much play with a chip on their shoulders) understood what he meant.

19-9 before this talk. These kids clearly did not smell what the Rock was cooking
I just think it's your standard, run-of-the-mill pep talk. Sure, it might pump you up and supercharge you in that moment, but the effect wears off the following day and you don't even think about it in the weeks proceeding that. A lot of self-help books are like that really. They never really give you a set formula for success.
Kobe actually did a more scientifically helpful/plausible talk with the LA Chargers. The crux of his talk had to do with staying in the moment (AKA mindfulness/meditation), instead of lamenting over past mistakes. What he talks about manifests in sports all the time: the most resilient and successful athletes take it breath by breath and stay in the moment, because there will always be ups and downs. Basketball is a game of runs and there's a huge mental component that factors into how teams respond to adversity.
