So if we can't move him this summer does he crack the rotation next season? |

I actually dreamed last night that we were in the playoffs and Deng was playing during the 4th quarter (Lakers were winning the game) |

This summer could be special. It's surely gonna be very interesting to see what happens with Julius. However Deng is still the fly in the ointment. |

I was thinking... if Lebron signs with the Lakers and the Lakers are no longer in the "player development" stage. Will this lead to Deng getting playing time? If we sign George and Lebron, money will be tight. Randle more than likely gone. I'm thinking Deng would back up Kuz. I understand with signing Lebron means some vets will follow for minimum. But maybe Deng will contribute next season? He has been so professional during his tenure in L.A, I would really like to see him get a shot. If it werent for his contract he would be that "savvy vet" that helps Lebron. |

The only way this happens is if LeBron and the second max FA signing take a little paycut to keep Deng from getting stretched and bye bye Randle |

Deng is outta here this summer. By stretching, trade or buy out, he will not be a Laker come next season. |

If we stretch him to seven feet, will we get better trade offers? _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ― Elie Wiesel |

Somewhat amusing article on ways to part with Deng this summer:
*Los Angeles Lakers: Five ways to get rid of Luol Deng this summer
Quote: | However, the mistakes of the previous front office had to be erased. There was one contract that the Lakers failed to get rid of: Luol Deng’s. Deng is owed $36 million over the next two seasons and is the lone sore spot on the Lakers’ salary cap situation. |

Lakers are doing this all wrong. I would meet with him put two checks on the table. One with his 20 mill on it. Another with 16 mill on it that says buyout on it. The 20 mill will be written to whoever he wanted to hide the money for him. While we sign a contract for the 16 mill buyout. _________________ Coach Vogel, Kidd, Hollins

Five different options in various forms:
Getting Jordan from the Clippers, would not match with Randle.
Getting KL from the spurs for Deng and BI would work for us but Pop won’t trade him here.
Getting Lilliard from Blazers for Deng and Ball. I could see this deal if we got LBJ.
Getting Matthews and Powell for Deng and Randle to Dallas. I don’t see how this improves us.
Getting PG13 for Deng and BI, this works I think if we also get LBJ and want the space for KL next year. |

Car54, I’m in the same boat as you. It’s reached criminal proportions for LA to wipe their hands clean of this trash contract.
This is LA. There’s so many “contacts” and “business associates” just a phone call away. The South Sudanese hospitals and preschools get a mysterious 30 million dollar donation. Shortly before or after, Deng accepts a generous buyout. Magic and rob shrug and call it Mana from heaven.
Or the Kings trade for him (maybe with ONE pick to not make it obvious). Vlade shows up to the presser with a solid gold cigarette holder while Vivek’s daughter, a pop star wannabe, gets a show on the Disney channel.
They really have to think outside the waive and stretch box scenario |

If we do sign star FAs and turn into a win-now team, then I think he'll crack some minutes if he wants to be a part of the team.
But it also must be noted we already have 3 major forwards in Ingram/Kuzma/Randle + Hart and all our FA targets right now are forwards. Even if Randle leaves, there's not many minutes to go around. _________________ www.lakersbrasil.com

"Only in America" as Don King used to say...
Could a poor immigrant come to this country and be paid $18mil a year for doing absolutely NOTHING....!
Personally, I'd take half that amount for doing nothing... _________________ “Always remember... Rumors are carried by haters, spread by fools, and accepted by idiots.”

If we do not stretch or trade Deng this summer......I want dude on active roster next season. We are no longer tanking and Deng can still provide spot minutes off the bench. Even with reduced athleticism, his experience and overall basketball knowledge has to be good enough to get on the court for limited minutes.
He should be 100% healthy and rested this year! |

So, is he about 5-8 years older than originally thought? _________________ Lakers need to build a freaking team ! |

If Jose Calderon can still log minutes on a Finals team I guess so can Deng... Riding Lebron's jock is definitely a career extender.
(Yes, I know he's getting stretched.) |
