Lakers are reportedly high on Luka Doncic to play alongside Ball. A trade into the top 5 doesn't seem likely unless Lakers are willing to trade Brandon Ingram or Kyle Kuzma plus a 1st rounder.

http://www.lakersnation.com/2018-nba-draft-rumors-lakers-high-luka-doncic-unlikely-trade-top-5-picks/2018/05/27/

My opinion is not to trade BI or Kuz. One alternate way to get Doncic is by trading with the Hawks if he falls to 3. However, it will take Ball to be traded since Hawks have a need at PG given their situation with Schroeder.

Lakers get the 2018 3rd pick and 33rd pick.

Hawks get Lonzo Ball, Luol Deng, 2019 1st round pick, 2018 25th pick, 2018 47th pick.

Lakers clear Deng’s salary and can sign 2 max free agents and keep Randle’s bird rights. Hawks get their PG of the future and can trade Schroeder.

Edited to clarify

That trade was nowhere in the article, it actually talked about how they like the idea of him and Lonzo together while trading Kuz or Ingram.

If this is gonna be a thread we might as well talk about what was actually proposed. Would we be willing to trade Ingram or Kuz and 25 for Doncic? I go yes Kuz and 25 but I’m not sure id do Ingram and 25.

The question is: is Don still fat? Cuz we know Kuz puts in the work and will most likely put in the work throughout his career.

Somebody likes Lonzo that much? Third pick for Lonzo AND Deng? Sign me up then. I'll take that trade anyday.

Was he ever fat?

I’m not as confident in Kuz as you. I was told for years that Clarkson had an incredible work ethic, except he never got better and turns out he was only worried about living the NBA lifestyle. Hopefully Kuz and the other youngsters don’t fall into that trap. We don’t know yet.

I would be ok with that trade. Doncic/Ingram could take over the PG duties. The Hawks were last in the NBA in attendance. Lonzo's exciting style of play would help with that.

So the Lakers aren’t looking to trade down to get him. Why are we here?

I could see why Magic would want this guy. He might be an even better passer than Ball, though Ball is probably better at pushing the ball and outlet passes. But as far as being a cerebral passer, Doncic. He reminds me of a Euro version of Ben Simmons with a three point shot.

Again, the report said they are interested in him playing alongside Lonzo, not instead of him. They debate is Doncic vs Ingram/Kuz.

Easy YES. I would accept that trade without Q. First of all I am quite tired of Ball family and idiot Lavar.
Plus I am watching Dončić every week. He is absolutely star potential. Has everything.

That would be a pretty dynamic back court. If we sign the two max guys, Doncic could come off the bench for a few years, that would be fine. I would think twice about trading Kuzma or Ingram, but if the front office feels strongly enough about Doncic and they are able to dump Deng in the process, then it is obviously something they would have to consider. I think Ingram is a player that the Kings and Hawks would both be interested. They are 2 and 3 in the draft and they have the cap room to absorb Deng.

If you can get rid of Deng while getting Doncic I’d probably give up Ingram or Kuz, this years 1st and next years. Preferably Kuz though.
