Hi,
Watching the finals recently made me think about this...
For years people would suggest that they liked certain players for the Lakers, some would respond that "they are too dumb", or "has a poor attitude", etc.. (NYoung, JMcGee)
And yet now I see them playing for the Warriors in the finals.
How can a player be not good enough for the Lakers but good enough for the World Champions?
I guess it's the coaching? |

B/c we didn't have KD/Curry/Klay/Dray. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Simple answer: Their roles are greatly reduced.

Getting rid of all your depth for LeBron, two others, and a bunch of veterans minimums is not the way to go.
I'd rather have depth/bench, one or two all-stars along with our core. More longevity. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

It is based of that players Role. They throwing that type of guy in for a few minutes. On the Lakers we had him playing 30+ and he was featured. |

Same reason why our starting power forwards during the Shaq/Kobe title years were:
Samaki Walker, AC Green, Horace Grant |

Because their utilization is less. They can focus on doing things that are in their particular skill sets.
Nick can focus on only scoring. He gets wide open looks because people are more concerned about his teammates. He has other defenders to help him defend. He doesn't have to create shots for others.
McGee - Same thing, rebound, set good picks, and play with energy. |

Nick is a shooter. His job is to come off the bench and put the ball in the bucket from range when they pass to him. He was kicked out of Scott's foxhole, so that was a wasted year. We were last in D the next year, so everyone wanted a defensive specialist instead. Nick hasn't really changed. Now that the D is better, everyone's drooling over shooters again. It's cyclical unless you have Klay.
McGee is still low BBIQ. They just tell him stand in front of the rim and swat on one end - dunk on the other. The rest of the team takes care of the details. |

How would've Fisher, Fox, Horry, Brian Shaw, an old Horace Grant, an old MWP, etc. have looked at the same age if they didn't get to play with Kobe or Shaq? _________________ Lakers 49ers Chargers Dodgers |

Its coaching, they have better teammates, they have certain teammates with certain skills that may compliment their skills.
put it this way, if rodney hood played with a superstar version of Lonzo ball(with a decent jumper and ft's), rodney hood would look like a baller. why? because rodney hood can score but he's not just some catch and shoot guy that the cavs tried to make him be next to bron prior to this last game. he needs to touch the ball early in the shot clock to give himself time to break down his man for a basket. go watch him in utah. thats what he's good at. Jordan clarkson is the same way. this is why he played so well in a laker uniform and part of the reason why he doesnt look good on the cavs. now granted there is some fear involved for young guys being in the finals for their first time and the playoffs period for some.
nick young was a very good player for the lakers. he not only played defense for luke but he could score. now he's not asked to do much at all so his job is a piece of cake now. hit a couple of shots and dont be a complete turnstile on defense for a few mins. javale mcgeee was a better player with the nuggets when they use to actually go to him in the low post to score. so these things were always in these two players. they didnt just get decent once they played for the warriors. |

if Swaggy can keep his head on straight....he will have a job for several more years because he is a gifted shooter....he will likely not be a primary 6th man or starter going forward....but that skill will keep him in the league as long as he does not create distractions for the team. |

Saw that too. Pretty sure it was. T. Bryant looking much stronger. Hope he can improve his defense. _________________ "Whatever you do in life, surround yourself with smart people who'll argue with you." |

Define “playing” for the Warriors.
On a good team, their way of “playing” is a lot different than on a bad team. |
