This performance of Who's Lovin You on the Ed Sullivan Show
only this version of the song
I saw that vid only a couple weeks back, maybe it's one of those random "What's Next" vids to the right. His rendition of "Ben" as a lad was good too. The move "Ben" was a sequel to the 1972 version of the movie "Willard". Low budget "horror" genre killer rat films. Ben is a rat Mike is singing about, but I'm just talking about the execution, as Kobe would say.
Say what anyone will about him as an adult, when you see him perform as a child/teen, it's amazing the amount of soul he had. Not to mention talent. It's even more redonk as you have his brothers in the background to compare him to. Sorry, but Jermaine and the rest were mortals, but they did the grind. It is too bad that Mike experiences shaped him the way they did. He was a child growing up in a very un-nurturing biz. _________________ GOAT MAGIC REEL SEDALE TRIBUTE EDDIE DONX!

Interesting. KISS got a lot of crap for I Was Made For Lovin You in particular, and Beth to a lesser extent, but they weren't the only bands who made leaps like that. VH, whose demo Gene produced, did a lot of weird covers like Pretty Woman and that was a hit for them like Beth and Lovin You were for KISS. I read some contemp metal band member citing VH's I"ll Wait (synth) and Jamie's Cryin as respectful leaps. Bands hate being pigeonholed by expectations, I don't care what genre. They seem to like when others buck convention. Sabbath was doing weird sh towards the end with Ozzy, too. They didn't want to do the doom 'n gloom in the mid 70s. They were wearing costumes with tassles on them by then. _________________ GOAT MAGIC REEL SEDALE TRIBUTE EDDIE DONX!
Chris Cornell and his rendition of 'Nothing Compares to You."
Recently came across another great Cornell performance. It was a cover of Ticket to Ride by The Beatles. He played it during a small and intimate acoustic set. He ad libs this epic outro section where he goes into complete vocal stratosphere. I can’t say I cried, but it was thoroughly moving. My eternal respect for Mr. Cornell. I was never the biggest fan of SGs music, but holy (bleep), what a singer.
a dawg after my own heart! love "Dream of the Shore Bordering Another World" of course, also Aeris's theme in FF7, especially after Sephiroth gives her the business end of his blade
for non video games, maybe "Only Time" by Enya....or..well, almost anything by Enya!
