He could never make a layup until that second stint with the Lakers. Clutch as hell.

He even won a game at buzzer with a layup during that 2nd stint.

i struggle sometimes where to place that layup in laker lore, but i keep going higher and higher with it. What an important moment. And on top of it, it was the last of a series of impossible shots he made in that quarter when the championship was seriously on the line for a few minutes.

This is one of the most memorable shots of all the Lakers highlights since I started watching the Lakers after Shaq moved to LA in 1996.

(bleep) A has it really been 8 years?

Shout out to the Kobe/Fish pick n roll (pop?) Which helped us squeeze out an offense in the muck that was the end of that game.

Yeah, some doinks questioned the earnestness of that moment, too. I was happy as all get-out for Fish. That's the kind of play he got paid for. Like Horry, you had to boil down his entire worth to certain moments.

Why the arrow? I don't get it.

I was actually at this game and happened to be sitting right next to 5 other flagrant Laker homers (face paint and all) who had made the road trip from California to be at that game, and when that play happened you wouldn't believe how loud and obnoxious we got among the cadre of silence; it was like all the frustration and disappointment I felt from the 2008 Finals were freed all at once to collectively declare, "**** you CELTICS!!!!!"

Only a few moments in my life that I'll remember more vividly than this moment; this game.

Awesome experience!! Glad you were there. Thanks for sharing

We lose that series without Derek Fisher's heroics in Game 3. And losing that series would have been unthinkable, I shudder at the thought.

Y'know Kobe wouldn't have allowed that to happen at all costs; even if it meant giving up the rest of his already receding hairline. Just look at this play and reaction from him from the same game:

It's debatable since 0.4 seemed more improbable BUT given that we lost that year, it was only the WCF, and it was against the Spurs and NOT the Celtics, I go with Layup-And-1

Fisher was the kind of guy you gave the greenest of lights in pressure situations in the playoffs. Always came through. I remember him being particularly bad at layups that year too, and in game 3 he just drained several highly contested ones. Great performance to steal back home court.
