Well he's gonna have to change his tune if he really wants to assemble a title team like he talks about. KD and CP3 willingly took less money to do exactly that, and they were on the two best teams in the NBA. Lebron can't take a 5m haircut so that we can keep Randle? |
Or he can just sign somewhere else and try to get a title there. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

He could also do that to us after signing 3-5 years contract and i dont care. He is 40 by then. Important thing is he will surely improve this team 100% & management will finally end drought of Superstar Free Agent Snubs! |
I would not take 3 good years of LeBron over 8-10 years of great, fun Lakers basketball thats waiting ahead. |
I laughed when I read this. We did take a few years of horribly boring championship level basketball in exchange for a long term entertaining but perhaps non-winning team. It was called the 'triangle', where we replaced our starting point guard nick van exel with derek fisher. And sort of swapped Eddie Jones for Rick Fox. |
Horrobly boring during our 3 peat years?
oh geez |
I really did not like Shaq ball, I enjoyed the kobe gasol championships a lot more if I'm going to be honest. (yes they still did the triangle but kobe was now the focal point instead of shaq) Although nothing really tops showtime. Too young to have see Jerry West, Wilt and Co. |

If the decision is purely about money, he should stay in Cleveland. If he signs anywhere else, he is leaving money on the table.
My hope is that he would decide on LA as it would give him the best shot at winning a title and the lifestyle he wants. Money would be the 3rd on his list of priorities at this stage of his career - especially $2-3m given his career earnings.
The irony of the situation is the best way for him to get the full max from the Lakers is to say he is willing to sign for less than the full max. It means the Lakers have a stronger bargaining position when looking to trade Deng and are more likely to find a reasonable deal. |

I actually like Rondo (for the room exception, not any of our cap space), but the problem is we need shooting, and he obviously doesn't provide that... |

so I am guessing no one needs to get Kobe's lunch order....
Kobe Bryant Willing To Help, But Not Attend, Free Agency Meetings
Quote: | “Well, no. I’ll call. I mean, I’m not going to be in the meeting. Listen, I’m not a part of the organization in any kind of professional way, so for the player themselves, if the players have questions, or if [the Lakers] want me to reach out and call a player or something like that, talk to the player and give my two cents on what it was like to play in this market, I’ll certainly do that. But in terms of being part of the meeting in any official way, the answer is no. But like I said, Rob and Magic both have flexibility in their cap and great young talent. I’ve known Rob a really long time. This dude is as smart as they come, man. He’ll figure it out.” |

Especially with rumor that Bron doesn’t like Houston as a city, but it’s interesting you came to that conclusion, if LeBron wanted to be a Rocket then he would join with CP3 there but him not liking the city takes them out of the running. |

Durant and CP3 had never won anything. They sacrificed dollars to put themselves in the best position possible. Lebron has already won titles. Like Kobe before him, as the NBA's marquee player, he knows it's the franchise's job--not his--to build the best team possible while paying him what he earns. Did you question Kobe's desire to win when he took the full max? |

I would consider trading Lonzo, draft pick and Deng. _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold. |

PG at the minimum better sign this summer.
Im ok with the Dlo trade (but i wish we kept him one more year), but if we salary dumped Dlo and drafted Lonzo who couldnt stay healthy and his dumbazz dad just to come up empty this summer...oh man
and im just holding this standard because of magics words. He was the one who said that he wouldn't have made the trade if he didnt think he could get 2 max guys.
he was the one who said lonzo would break his records. So hopefully this all comes true.

If a bunch of vets stars are lining up to play for the Lakers, then it makes sense.... I could see dozens of FAs and players in general hoping to be signed here or traded here. |

Yeah, i confused myself there. But I stated earlier that Durant had to take a discount in order for the team to afford both Livingston and Iggy. There was a clear personnel sacrifice there if he demanded the full max. Lebron should be able to get the max without sacrificing a rotation player. We're talking about "future flexibility" here. And how do Magic and Pelinka pitch Lebron that this is the best winning situation for him....but you can't take the full max?
And why aren't we talking about Paul George taking a haircut? Why does he get slated for the full max but Lebron doesn't? |

I mean, yeah, a little bit. His priority was being the highest paid guy in the league and it hurt him in the end because they couldn't give him the support he needed on the court. I get it, he had to pay for those helicopter rentals.
I don't begrudge any of these guys not wanting to save any of the billionaire owners money, nor seeking market value for their services. And in the case of Kobe it was payback for services rendered. But we knew at the time it wasn't conducive to building a winning team, and Kobe had to have known it. |

Leonsis is too buzzed off the Stanley Cup champagne to give a rip about the Zombie Bullets. They're gonna be in the repeater tax for a 44-win team, great investment! |
