He plays too straight up and down. When he has the ball in his hands, he doesn’t create any space, defenders crowd him and he isn’t able to make a move.
He has to have a Julius type of offseason where he has a total transformation of his body. He said himself he didn’t work as hard as he should have, and it showed.
Other than his ability to roll to the basket, he doesn’t provide much of anything else.
Gotta show us something Zu, or else you’re gonna be a journeyman for the next 5 years before heading back to Europe. |
I think unless they go bare bones to sign LBJ, it doesn't make much sense to cut him. He's on a dirt cheap deal and may be the backup center depending on how they use Bryant. |

yep, more definition.

I'm confident he will be much improved physically this upcoming season. Not sure why he has very little support here. Young bigs take longer to develop. JR essentially had 2 full seasons with ample playing time before the light went on, improved his cardio and body resulting in the season he just had and changed many LG members perception of him.
Zubac is very skilled in the post with touch on his shots with both hands. His mid-range is very good and from what I have seen of his 3 pt shot (g-league) he should be at least NBA average.
He rebounds, is physical and provides adequate rim protection.
Needs to improve his defensive awareness and lateral movement.
I know post play is frowned upon in this NBA but I wonder if the Celtics and Rockets would have fared better if they had an inside presence when their 3 ball is not falling. Lebron essentially scores a lot of his points in the post using bully ball to get high percentage shots within 15 feet. |

I believe in the the great Zu. He and Big Mamba are the future. They play above their paygrade, and add pro depth to our team. _________________ DEAR BASKETBALL |

I'm hoping he works with Amoila and comes into next season with his body looking like a prime Pekovic http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DxV9HmoAmfI/UrDBPJSrcWI/AAAAAAAAAwI/iLjLULX6nno/s1600/10Wolf1213.galjpg.jpg

Yeah idk what lakers training staff are doing with zu. He seemed like a beast on the low post his first season and then he lost a bunch of weight last season and looked horrible. It was like he lost muscle or something because he didn’t have the strength the bang down low anymore. Now he’s lost even more weight....was the guy all fat or something? I feel like they broke zubac 😕
When is he going to start lifting weights and gaining muscle? They know he’s a lowpost center, right? |

Pretty low chance he is with us next season. High probability his option is just straight out declined or it’s excercised and he’s sent out as part of a trade. Magic TOLD the guys to get in better shape last season started, he didn’t. His game hasn’t progressed, didn’t take their advice and isn’t a deep threat...he’s gone. |

That simply isn’t true. He got his body fat down to 7% and it became his nickname during training camp. However, I do agree with you that he didn’t show enough progress (if any) this season, which makes the odds of him coming back rather minuscule, at best. His regression last year was...strange. _________________ “Christ did not die to forgive sinners who go on treasuring anything above seeing and savoring God. No matter what happens to Zu, he was definitely ten steps above Robert Sacre. |

I hope for the best....but still confused on what happened last season. I was not as high on him his rookie season as many, but I was still impressed and hopeful....then dude shows up at summer league and was a total stiff!
Did he just read his press clippings and not work very hard last summer? I actually hope that was the case, and he shows progress during training camp because the version oh him last season was probably not an NBA level player. |

Last season Zubac didn't get the opportunities. When he did, and especially after we got Thomas and started utilizing Zubac in the pick and roll he showed what he showed that got us excited last year.
Despite his 'rep' as a low post center, he's had the most success in the pick and roll and off ball because he has a soft touch and knows where to be. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

Zu thrives with a traditional PnR guard such as Russell. LA probably won't feature one of those (again) next year. He is probably better off somewhere he can have that. _________________ Austin Reaves keeps his game tight, like Kobe Bryant on game night. |

100%
And post play will come back around after everybody stops emulating a style of play which the Warriors are uniquely equipped for. After that, the league will be trying to match up with Embiid, Towns, Davis, etc. |

Is Zu play in the summer league? If so, he needs to come out with a bang.
Last summer league was so disappointing and he never recovered. |

was unaware that Zubac was playing on the Croatian national team this summer. Appears they had an exhibition game against Bosnia and Herzegovina earlier today getting ready for World Cup qualifier's and Zubac put up 28 points/ 12 Rebounds / 2 Assists on 11 of 13 from the field.
Using Google translator it is a little difficult to read, but it looks like Bojan Bogdanović and Dario Šarić are also on the team.

Thanks for the info. He is someone I truly believe is an NBA player and belongs on the Lakers. He gets bashed here a lot but the talent is there. |

Guys who are going into their third year in the league don't usually play in SL. Magic ruled out Lonzo and Kuz but confirmed that Hart and T. Bryant (assuming he's still on the team by then) will play. No mention of Zu. I don't think we needed it as confirmation, but the drafting of Big Moe all but assures that Zu’s time is up. I'm hoping that another team picks him up by training camp, but there's a real possibility that he won't be in the league next year. I'm still shocked at how awful he was this year. _________________ “Christ did not die to forgive sinners who go on treasuring anything above seeing and savoring God. He is my spirit animal. Real talk tho, I love Zu’s game. Really a “glue” guy. He needs to be more aggressive with cracking into the starting center role. No more mr nice guy, Zu. Be meaner with your match up. _________________ DEAR BASKETBALL |
