Getting Kawhi before Free Agency locks the lakers into getting Lebron + PG

trade ball or Ingram and fillers

ingram/ball
PG
Kawhi
Lebron

they can knock off the warriors next year

Lakers get: Kawhi Leonard

Spurs get: Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, Luol Deng

I would jump on that deal if I was the Lakers.

Sure, but getting Popovich to adopt the Ball family would be a hard sell.

or even send Kawhi to LA.....all seems like very low odds unless Kawhi (or his people) went nuclear and made it be known he was leaving the Spurs and would only re sign with Lakers.

Among all the names rumored to come to the Lakers, Kawhi is surely my #1 option, but also the most unlikely to come. I wouldn't rest my hopes on him.

does not really work unless Deng is included, and there is a strong argument for pairing Ball and Murray.

the pacers did take on 80m salary back in the paul george trade.

Dipo's contract was not worth it at that time and was a 6th man

Wouldn't Philly or Boston easily outbid that offer.

Both have multiple players and high draft picks to do so that the Lakers can not come close to matching.

And I am very optimistic about the potential of Ingram and Ball. Just think Spurs would prefer the multiple assets available then that Laker offer.

i agree but those offers would vanish as soon as KL goes PG13 route and says I am hell bent on being a laker

Whether Leonard stays in San Antonio depends on if they are willing to offer him the supermax. Paying that much money on a player who just missed most of the season games is a risky move. I can understand why they are reluctant to do it. However, I still have concerns about Leonard's injury. We have seen how injury changes I.T's game. I know it is a different injury but there is always a risk that Leonard might not be the same player as he was, and I am not sure if we should lose our asset for it.

I feel where you're coming from but I think the reality is that in the pursuit of LBJ and PG, Randle could very likely become a casualty and end up renounced which allows Lakers to keep their picks and just stretch Deng. I don't see the Deng + 25 + Future 1st for Cap Space deal out there that would allow us to keep JR and add LeBron and George.

My point is that while I would love to keep Julius, this trade is probably the best we can do without giving of 2 out of Lozno/BI/Kuzma. I would think Randle would be open to a sign and trade back home and to Pop. BI, Randle, Deng, #25, Future 1st for Kawhi, Filler

Don't see why they would, but if the Spurs take on Deng along with Lonzo and Kuzma for KL, would the Lakers be able to afford CP3, PG13 and LBJ as well?

Chris Paul
Brandon Ingram
Paul George
Kawhi Leonard
Lebron James

I don't have a big issue losing Randle because he's probably going to be overpriced anyway. I might not even have a problem losing Lonzo because I'm tired of the family circus.

But I certainly don't want to lose Ingram... and if we have 3 max agents we will need those cost controlled picks.

The only way I could justify trading for Kawhi is the same way I could justify signing CP3... because it's part of a larger deal to get James. Not just a hunch... but a sworn oath he will sign if we get Kawhi.

My point was only that if Pop likes the deal... you probably just played yourself.

No filler. Lol. For LBJ, PG, and KL we would be at 85 million.

You are assuming he does that. Will he? Lets face it, even George did not state unequivocally "trade me to the Lakers" or is being adamant about moving to LA now. Do you trust that Leonard might simply spend a year with the Lakers and then leaves for another team? Just as likely as with any other team IMO.

Leonard potentially just left his teammates hanging in a playoff run to make a point. Harsh but after this season I think it is fair to question his motives and intentions.

Back to the trade scenarios though. Would either team pull back offers? They might be willing to take just as much a risk he re-signs. Both teams have stockpiled talent. Both could absorb a bad trade. Not sure the Lakers can if outbidding those two teams. Lakers biggest asset is cap space. I prefer they focus on that to improve the team.
