first Bagley, and now Ayton signs with Puma
Does Puma make basketball shoes anymore?
they are just now re entering the market....personally, I am a fan of Puma and their recent casual athletic and running shoes.....have little doubt they will make a quality basketball shoe again.
I think Ayton choosing Puma is not too big of a surprise; Puma is really popular in the Bahamas apparently. _________________ one dog goes that way the other dog goes the other way

ESPN put out what it calls its "perfect"/ "Grade A" mock for the 1st round, with their own form of current and potential ratings in categories from shooting to passing to perimeter D.
They have us picking DiVincenzo at 25. I'd be fine with that... but notably, Hutchison is NOT listed in the 1st round at all. They also have Huerter at 20, and Jerome Robinson at 26.
Quote:
How he fits: The Lakers struggled to score with backup point guards Alex Caruso and Tyler Ennis on the court last season. DiVincenzo would bring far more scoring punch to the position, and his shooting ability would allow him to play off the ball alongside Lonzo Ball and Brandon Ingram -- or, perhaps, a free agent the Lakers can sign this summer.

if melton and huerter and them are gone already i would have no problem with the lakers taking DDV at 25
edit: that mock showing melton to the celtiKKKs is gross. i trust the lakers with their drafting but passing on melton if he's available at 25 would hurt
I echo BVs summary verbatim. I don't agree w a lot of 94 feet report.
What's lost is how much physical development KBD has had already. How much more eohysical upside is there after gaining almost 40lbs NCAA?
When you watch KBD through a more developed MBAM lens, the perceived value rises dramatically.
Again, I’m not an expert on him at all, never watched him play actual games, but are you essentially saying that you can’t envision Diop, a 22 year-old, gaining more weight, adding more strength and muscle mass?
If you are implying he can’t “grow” anymore, you must not remember Elden Campbell. He came to the Lakers 6’11, 205 soaking wet. He retired from the NBA at nearly 300 pounds. He can gain more weight and strength if he desires to, IMO. No problem.
Elden Campbell in his prime was 245lbs. Getting near 300lbs., is just letting himself go and not being effective.
It took Campbell what, 3-5 years just to get to that 245 mark? Did he even retain any of that athleticism when his weight exceeded that? I don't think so. At least Campbell was an energy big with major hops as a rookie. KBD, is not that. He doesn't exactly have "Athleticism to spare" for the sake of adding more bulk.
I wish you had’ve answered my question instead of critiquing an example.
My question was in response to this: “How much more physical upside is there after gaining almost 40lbs in the NCAA?”
That's why I critiqued the answer. You gave the example of Elden Campbell at nearly 300lbs. He lost almost all of his athleticism at that point. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

Eh, I'd have a problem with it, but I guess we don't know until they hit the floor. Like really? Pass up on Melton?
How can Jerome Robinson have "less shooting potential" than Divincenzo if he's a better overall shooter across the board AND the #1 option for his team? _________________ Resident Car Nut.

I disagree with them ranking DDV above Jerome Robinson rather than over Melton. Despite Melton's defensive prowess, his lack of shooting still concerns me.
However, I agree that a lot of people seem to be undervaluing Robinson's track record and tenure and improvement next to DiVincenzo's Tournament hype.
That being said, I lean to DDV over JR more because of his familiarity with a system that seems at least philosophically similar to ours. I'm not looking to get a roster full of Villanova players, but I see his defensive training at Nova and his physical build giving him a slight edge over Robinson.
Again, though, if Hutchison, Huerter, and DDV weren't available, and it came down to JR or Melton, I could live with taking JR fairly easily on the basis of his more complete, all-around game.
Man the more I look at this draft the more I would be willing to trade down if Atlanta would be willing to trade 30,34 for 25. Not sure who would be left at 30 but at 34 and 47 I would want to take carter and Justin jackson. I think both will be elite defenders and would fit nicely on the 2nd team. The question is who will be there at 30 could melton or Robinson fall that far? I have seen some mocks that melton falls that far not sure if it is realistic but the idea of adding melton carter and Jackson to help our defense is very attractive

While trade chatter this time of year isn't unusual, there is a growing sense among many team execs that there could be some significant deals early in the draft.
