A lot of sniper "specialists" have short arms. There's less movement in their form and hence more consistency. |

Lavar probably hopes he goes undrafted so he can make our summer league squad |

This draft just tells us that the Lakers have to hit 2 homeruns in free agency. Wagner and Svi are role players with limited future upside and even more limited defensive presence. Bonga is a hope that he can develop into a decent wing player a few years from now. So basically, a role player draft for LA with one project. |

As opposed to if they took other players at those spots? |

But I doubt you bank on that in the draft. I’d rather have a vet backing up Lonzo at that spot. _________________ “Christ did not die to forgive sinners who go on treasuring anything above seeing and savoring God. And people who would be happy in heaven if Christ were not there, will not be there."

Early Svi defensive notes:
- Closes out v well
- He's exactly where you want him positionally like 95% of the time
- Tags roll men & recovers well
- I'm seeing him do a lot of talking & pointing to switch
- Defends w/feet, doesn't commit dumb fouls on drives
- Hops around on D

I'm loving seeing him actively blow up pin downs and other screening actions and have the awareness to tag roll men when he should & recover under control.

Quicker guys can get buy him & bigger ones can finish over him, which will be more of an issue in the NBA. But he's not a turnstile on D & I see why his primary defensive data looks the way it does. |

Only downside is that he’s 6’8 with a......6’5 wingspan. God did him dirty with the arms. | so basically he's liangelo ball who is already 6'5 with the same or slightly better wingspan. also a shooter/scorer, that isnt known for his defense. |

4 years ago this guy looked like the best young player in the world, there was a thread in the general basketball forum
Then he decided to go to college in usa where apparently he sucked?
But there's always potential _________________ Kobe |

College was the best thing that could have happened to him. He learned American hoops and was able to the culture shock in college instead of his first few years in the L as a lotto pick where he could have potentially flamed out.because of it. |

Well of course. They've focused on shooting ability in this draft and got 2 guys that can do that well. Unfortunately at the cost of defense ability so their ceilings are pretty limited. They're role players best suited for a team that has star players already.
If they were still of the mindset that they're continuing the rebuilding phase, then they might have taken some chances on guys with higher potential upside as 2-way players that they can continue developing.
So if the Lakers can hit those homeruns in free agency, then this draft would make a lot more sense since they have 2 high IQ, high character, top shooting players drafted where their defensive shortcomings can be hidden a lot more with superstar talent out there to help cover them. Not hitting those homeruns will make people wonder why the team didn't take chances on other players with more potential. |
