St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Carlos Martinez clearly was spooked in a video posted to Instagram Wednesday night in which he claims there was a ghost in his Milwaukee hotel room.

Martinez, who took the loss Thursday, giving up seven runs (five earned) on eight hits over four innings in a 11-3 loss to the Brewers, conceivably could blame his struggles on the mound to the supposed supernatural presence in his room at the Pfister Hotel.

#lotiguereasutao @franpena26 @thebigbear13ozuna @tphamlv @ambiorixreyes06 @carloslvilloria im sorry, i can’t sleep alone tonight #ghost in my room.

The video shows Martinez surrounded by a few Cardinals teammates, including outfielders Marcell Ozuna and Tommy Pham and catcher Franciso Pena.

“Describing what happened, a rough translation of the video indicates Martinez says ‘a ghost has appeared right here in the room,'” via Milwaukee’s TMJ4. “The caption also mentions how he ‘can’t sleep alone’ because of the ‘ghost in my room.'”

The Pfister, a historic hotel in downtown Milwaukee, has a long history of supernatural goings-on. In fact, ESPN The Magazine published an article in 2013 about how things that go bump in the night at the downtown Milwaukee hotel has been spooking major leaguers for years.

And now, Martinez can count himself among the ballplayers who have been haunted there by an otherworldly presence.
