Robert Williams admits oversleeping introductory conference call with Celtics. I don't care how they chose to spin it.... Wow that's pretty bad.

Is he the guy that they were saying last night that had immaturity issues? And would benefit by joining a team like the Celtics?

Well that is not a good start. He better become a professional quick. There are plenty of guys out there ready to take your job.

Too cold.

On his podcast, Bill Simmons mentioned the missed conference call and tried to brush it off as ‘kid was up late celebrating, no biggie’. He had just mentioned the immaturity issues, the work ethic issues, etc. If we had drafted Williams, BS would have been crowing about what a bad sign this was.

Reason he fell to them was because of these issues plus he can’t space the floor and some “off court” issues.

I'll take the under on this Celtics team crumbling due to the 27th pick missing a press conference (by an hour.)

Can’t make this stuff up: Celtics say rookie first-round pick Robert Williams, who was introduced here Friday, missed his flight back to Boston and was not present for the start of summer league practice today. Williams already overslept an introductory conference call.

So the "oversleeping and missing the presser" was kinda funny.
But missing your first SL practice because you're "en route" from Houston to Boston isn't. Tatum & Horford showed up to work with the young guys and (obviously) they didn't even have to be there.
Weirdest part is he returned to A&M for his Sophomore season because he needed to mature.
Lots of evidence to the contrary thus far, from what I can see.
Grow up and grow up quick, Robert.
What you're being asked to do ain't all that difficult or challenging.

With the draft pick arsenal Ainge had to play with pre-draft, and with no immediate need in the current roster, the using a #27 on the kid could be worth the risk. Even if it's two seasons and out for RW, it would be a cheap miss with little forfeited.

Well, let's see the guy actually play before we write him off (assuming he finds his way to the arena that night.)
And as noted, he was the 27th pick in the draft, so....

It's possible he puts it together. I just found it funny that people were still upset with our draft after our recent track record. You think they would've learned after Nance, Kuzma, and Hart (also Clarkson). Even if Wagner doesn't pan out, that's still a hell of a batting average in the late first round/second round.

The Lakers have drafted great in the late first & second rounds the past several years, no doubt. IMO, Kuzma was without question the steal of last years draft at #27 (unless you choose to consider Donovan Mitchell being taken 13th overall.) Yup, they usually make the most out of their draft picks.
