Never seen the movie but did this movie have such a huge clamoring back for it to return to theaters? Or is the movie industry so bad that they have to go back to old hits now?

Classic '80s Movie 'Big' Is Returning To Theaters For Two Days Only

Made for $18 million, 'Big' earned $151.7 million at the worldwide box office and was the first feature film directed by a woman to gross over $100 million.

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Big, the classic 80s movie is heading back to movie theaters for two days only.

Three decades ago this summer, Penny Marshall’s Big was a box office smash and became one of the defining films of the 1980s. Made for $18 million, Big grossed $151.7 million at the worldwide box office, unadjusted for inflation. It also made Hollywood history for being the first feature film directed by a woman to gross over $100 million.

To mark this milestone, Fathom Events, Turner Classic Movies and 20th Century Fox are bringing Big back to movie theaters across the U.S. as part of the yearlong TCM Big Screen Classics series.

Big will play in more than 700 U.S. movie theaters on Sunday, July 15, and Wednesday, July 18, at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. each day (local time), through Fathom’s Digital Broadcast Network. A complete list of theater locations is available on the Fathom website.

Big tells the story of 12-year-old Josh Baskin who utters a secret wish to a carnival fortune-teller machine to become big and grows up overnight. Tom Hanks received his first Best Actor Oscar nomination for his performance as the 30-year-old Josh, whose desire to leave childhood behind and become a grown-up comes with consequences he never imagined.

“Big is the film that really cemented Tom Hanks’ place as a superstar, and it’s easy to see why - it’s one of the sweetest and most charming comedies ever made, and it’s a real pleasure to bring such a beloved film back to movie theaters as a summertime treat thanks to our partnership with Turner Classic Movies,” said Tom Lucas, Fathom Events Vice President of Studio Relations.

Tickets for Big can be purchased online or at participating theater box offices.

It was popular and a fun movie, but a strange choice for that kind of release.

It's playing on CINEMA. Grossed over $151 million. You can rent it $3.99 - 2 day I think you can buy it for $9.99. It's still making money.

I went to Tacos El Gordo the last night with a friend to pick up food for him. I didn’t get a chance to eat. I was playing in the Collosus so I was in the midst of a 6 day food fast for peak mental performance. The night before we went to some insane taco truck that looked (bleep) incredible. Yelp this: Taqueria El Buen Pastor. Blows away any taco place I’ve ever been too and I’ve been to millions (billions). So fresh. Can’t wait to go back so I can actually grub.

Also seriously like 10 min after I booked the room I turn on the radio a poor Vietnamese couple were murdered in their room at CC. Crazy. Book the damn room, turn on the radio and immediately hear the news. Creepy ass circus circus. But man, I can spend the rest of my life in that damn Midway.
