i think someone brought up Korver and JJ Redick... JJ Redick avg like 27ppg at Duke and Korver was shooting 48% 3s with 17ppg his senior year.
Can Gelo do this in 4 years against Div 1 talent? I doubt it

yup I don't think he has the motor to do it

Well he had his shot to see what he could do and LaVar thought pulling him out of UCLA was a better idea. I still can’t believe that happened.

Probably because they'd have benched him for the season.

It was just LaVar being impatient and angry that he didn’t get his way. Gelo could have used the extra time to get ready for next season.

What's amazing is he wound up playing basketball longer than the actual UCLA team did X_X

Don't sign with an agent yet Steve!

Looks like my chances were just as good as Gelo’s chances. I didn’t get drafted.

Nope. Last pick in the draft was Giannis' brother.

Yeah I saw this post this morning

“Lakers officially informed LiAngelo Ball he will not be on their Summer League team last night. They were determined to make this a basketball decision but as one source put it, “obviously there’s more to it than basketball.” In other words— the LaVar effect was real.”

welp...

To add to this, our team drafted a shooter with a far more impressive background anyway. And LaVar Ball was not part of the package so that’s a bonus.

I get his brother is on the team but why even have to tell him that the Lakers aren’t picking him up for summer league. They give Lavar too much credit.

I feel sorry for him , but at the end of the day , everyone is responsible for their own actions and he screwed his nba career and his entire LIFE when he decided it was a good idea to steal some sunglasses in China!

The kid threw away a free education at UCLA and that was probably his best bet. Maybe he could have majored in business and learned that his dad's plan was not sustainable.

Lavar + China incident = Doors closed.

eh why? he's getting much more exposure and fame than fringe NBA players with much more talent.

Well let’s see how this “exposure” plays out.
My guess is a simple mathematical equation:
Shoplifting charge+ Dad’s constant BS+very little actual basketball experience = Junior College or long term Wal-Mart employee...

Unfortunately, he followed his dad right off the cliff.
I think he has some hard decisions to make....whether he wants to continue his education, attempt a slim chance to make the NBA, or even take up Shannon Sharpe on his advice to train to workout for an NFL team.

If he didn’t steal in China and ended up being on the bench a lot at UCLA, his dad still might have pulled him out of school. LaVar said the plan was for Gelo to go straight to the draft after year 1 just like his brother.

He also pulled Melo out of high school at a horrible time.

At least LaMelo looks talented enough to have a pro shot. Poor LiAngelo is Jan Brady in the Ball family.
