We got ourselves a new mass shooting terrorist!

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Four people were killed Thursday in a shooting at a local newspaper building in Maryland, a senior federal law enforcement source tells CBS News. One suspect is in custody.

The shooting at the Capital Gazette newspaper prompted a massive police response, with employees evacuated from the building with hands raised above their heads. The Gazette is a local newspaper owned by The Baltimore Sun.

Phil Davis, a Gazette reporter, tweeted that he was in the building when the shooting happened. Davis said via Twitter the gunman shot through the glass door to the office and opened fire on multiple employees. He said he hid under his desk and employees heard the gunman reload.

I was reading "Didn't vote . . . yada yada . . . Hilary stinks . . . yada yada . . . Bernie . . . yada yada . . . " and thinking "Yeah, old news, pointless observation at this point" and ten got to the point that matters.

We need to move past laying blame for what happened the last time around and focus on making sure that past doesn't repeat itself.

There have been a lot of "this is your fault non-voter/third-party voter/Bernie Bro . . . " in the last couple of days thanks to the SCOTUS situation etc. and it's getting annoying. Pointing fingers back 18 months ago doesn't fix a damn thing. Time to look forward and proactively fix things through effort and planning.

Yes, moving forward is important, but you can only move forward, effectively, if you acknowledge your mistakes and where you went wrong--and adjust. Democrats, progressives, liberals, and those with an open mind, must always remember who the enemy is . . . and who he or she is not.

That has been hammered away at almost relentlessly for a year and half now. I think everyone gets it at this point.

Here, we must disagree. You are probably right when you use this thread as your only basis, but if you watch and read a variety of news sources, I don't think this point has been punctuated nearly enough.

Even if you are right--as Republicans have demonstrated time after time--repetition is a most effective tool.

CMB/Huey called it the other day. We were due for another distraction from the decline of the our political system via a mass shooting. Which got me thinking . . .

With all the BS conspiracies about crisis actors and non-existent children who weren't actually killed etc., if there's any kind of actual conspiracy going on, what seems more plausible . . . That there is a widespread, impossible to coordinate and pull off fake shooting involving dozens of actors who aren't really victims? OR . . . a handful of people who implement a lone gunman to commit a mass shooting as a convenient distraction.

Now I am in no way saying that's what has happened, nor do I believe it's even likely. But the idea does sort of reveal the glaring hole in the whole Alex Jones like idea that Sandy Hook never happened.

2 reasons why I think it's important to highlight how big of a (bleep) up 2016 was:

1) Looks like candidates further left than "establishment Dems" could start winning more and more primaries. Whether your Dem wins or not. Everyone still needs to vote for the party. No write in candidates, no staying at home, and no
2) Third party candidates. If you don't vote Dem. You are voting trump. I'm hearing more and more, we need "moderate" "independent" candidates that can help our congress "get things done". All 3rd party candidates do is steal votes by arguing the Dems are just as bad as the Republicans (obviously not true).
I have my gripes with the 2 party system as well. But this is not the time for that.

I'm sure it's painful to hear that every person who didn't vote Hillary helped swing the supreme court for a lifetime. But the truth hurts sometimes. And if hurt feeling are gonna keep people from the polls. Those people obviously don't understand how high the stakes are right now. And that's the problem in the first place.

Trump attacks the press daily, calling them the enemy of the people and just the other night whipped his crowd into a frenzy and had them all jeering the press that was there. Unless this turns out to be a domestic incident or disgruntled employee, he'll have this blood on his hands as far as I'm concerned.

I have more to say but if I typed it I'd have to suspend myself.

Yeah, but Hannity already told us it's Obama and Maxine Waters' fault.

Oh, and that we shouldn't talk about this as a gun control issue.

Fair enough. In the context though it sounded like you were proposing shaming them.

Shocking, right? CL nailed it in the other thread. If this incident is what it appears (and it's too early to know), then Trump has this blood on his hands.

on the topic of shaming though?

Until Melania Trump herself comes out and tells us why she wore that jacket I believe Baron needs to receive a picture of it every year on Mothers Day, his birthday, christmas, et al.

The level of incivility the Republican party and Trumpsters in general will go to is Fascist.

Nope. Not even remotely. He's just a kid who has zero control of his atrocious parents. Life has to be rough enough for him. Making him part pf a shaming campaign is as compassionless as it gets.
