So they valued Rondo over Randle in a "win now" move?

Makes sense. Randle may of wanted more money, more years. There is also a clog at the pf position and he can't consistently play center. We also need players that can spread the floor, and Randle can't. I know some may say "why did we sign rondo then? He can't shoot." Rondo is a floor general that rebounds and racks up assists; he puts players in position to be successful, and Bron said he wants to play more off the ball at this point of his career. Signing rondo fits that statement, with Rondo Lonzo never sits down, because we have another player that plays the same and we virtually chose kuzma over Randle.

Magic is building a team of playmakers... Lebron, Lonzo, Rondo...

I have no idea how that makes sense.

Guard depth (Lonzo was injured a lot) vs. forward depth. It makes nothing but sense.

FYI Rondo averaged 10/7/12 on 41% shooting and 42% from 3. He's good insurance for Lonzo with his injuries and always steps up and plays great in the playoffs, which the Lakers will need. Also, seems to be true that LeBron wants to play more off-ball with the Lakers, makes sense with Lonzo & Rondo that can take some pressure off of him always having the ball.

Exactly. The FO really screwed Lonzo last year but making him the sole ball distributor on the team. Way too much pressure and we saw how the team functioned with him.

Lonzo can play the 2 as well.

I always liked Rondo. No secret in that. But at the moment I do not really understand this knowing we have Lonzo. And he cant shoot also. Strange.

This is definitely a high iq signing and a good indicator that Bron wants to play off the ball at this point of his career. Rondo will be a good teacher for Lonzo, they play virtually the same, tho rondo shot a tad better than Lonzo last year.

Rondo is more of a ball pounder

Yes get rid of a talented 22 year old who could have at least been used in a trade so we could overpay a nearly washed up backup point guard.

Every non-Lebron signing has been utter garbage.

Put me on record as hating this move from the off. At the vet minimum I'd have been okay with it, 9 million even for a year is dumb as (bleep) and even more so when you renounce of your previous lottery picks to do so.

Don’t see the 42% 3P.
He was 33% last season.

Guys - stop trippin'. These are all 1 year contracts! The big goal is next year's free agent class. Team needs to gel and get more experience anyways, hence Lebron's 4 year deal. Are we really going to be able to keep Randle anyways?

It sounds like he was referring to Rondo starting over Lonzo.

I suspect we will be super active during the trade deadline. This reeks of trying to Kwame brown a team. I tried to make a scenario where we could get Lebron,
Kawhi, 3rd star and Randle. Randle had to go in every situation.

I think the next target after Kawhi (assuming he is traded) is Kemba.

I hope we are not fully in a win-now mode. We still need to develop. I don't think this is true completely, but this was obviously a concern that the organization would become LeBron-centric and base it's timeline around LeBron. Thats not necessarily the best thing for the young boys.

Randle was also a really good small ball 5. Our depth at center now is Zubac, Javale and Mo Wagner.

Yes we could've kept Randle. He had no offers, he was a restricted free agent, we could've gotten him on a very reasonable deal probably

Yup, not enamored with this signing. Me not like Rondo.

Odds on how long it takes Rondo and Lance to get into a fist fight at practice? I give it 3 weeks into the season.

I seriously have doubt any other team is willing to give more than the mid for him.

Do you remember playoff Rondo from last year ?Very solid signing I don't think we will be running LeBron in the ground with minutes like the Cavs did .
