1-year, MLE.

Time to cancel the NBA.

Where's David Stern when you need him?

Rather ironic how that decision seems rather laughable in retrospect given what has transpired since.

Owners pissed & moaned about the CP3 deal because we were getting the best player in the deal while also saving money. Plus, everyone knew Dwight Howard was coming.

So if you look at it from a "David Stern vetoing a deal that would ruin the balance of the NBA" perspective instead of a "David Stern wants to (bleep) over the Lakers" perspective, then Stern stepping in would be very convenient and logical by his own standards.

So if owners piss and moan and sandbag a deal that was negotiated in good faith between 2 teams, that's okay. But a player taking charge of his own talent and destiny isn't okay??

My initial commentary was sarcasm. And I thought you were opposing my sarcastic suggestion that Stern veto the deal was because he wouldn't because he apparently hates the Lakers.

Cousins has every right to sign an offer that he likes and I never questioned that.

I didn't catch the sarcasm...sorry.

Monstrous signing. Nobody was likely to beat them next season anyway but this just rams tha point home even harder...if he is even two thirds of what he used to be.

That is how you flesh your team out.

Considering the Warriors didn't need an all star center to win those championships....if DMC is even half the player he was pre-injury, the Warriors have few if any weaknesses.

When was the last time an NBA team had a legit all-star at every position?

Seriously, all of them are 30 or younger, in their primes. The only asterisk is Boogie's injury. This is pretty insane.

This angered most basketball fans because Cousins joined the Warriors but let's be honest, Cousins wouldn't be a good signing for us. He will be out until at least January and he can come back in a very bad condition. For the Warriors that doesn't matter, they are already a Championship team but in our case that would mean a bet with no reward for next season if he comec back the same as he was when he was injured.

Lakers started this chain reaction by renouncing Randle.

Randle going to NOP, meant they didn't feel like they needed to make an offer to Cousins.

Cousins, feeling spurned, immediately signed with GSW.

If Lakers held onto Randle longer, then NOP may very well have given DMC an offer that made him stay.

I think it's funny people are making such a big deal about this. First of all, the Warriors were unbeatable anyway. Second of all, Cousins will never be the same again after his injury. Totally insignificant signing, IMO, except that Cousins will get a ring, which is pretty lame.

Lakers has the chance to sign but paaaed

Was it more because of his energy or attitude

That and they want to give plenty of minutes to Zubac at playing center.

There is a reason why Zubac has been getting limited minutes the last 2 years. To keep him out from trade talks.

This is the time to unleash him, this is his opportunity to shine..

Then there was also the matter of when Boogie would be ready to play... Something, the Lakers evidently didn't want to wait on.

Injury (we've seen firsthand how devastating it is), has a bad rep, never heard anything about his work ethic being great, probably wouldn't play till Feb, and when he does come back what is he? Is he willing to sacrifice his own stats for the good of the team? Those would be the reasons I would pass on him. I don't think he would have signed in LA for that same price point.

Boogie may not play meaningful minutes this year. There's an outside chance Boogie is never the same again.

Randle directly asked the FO to renounce him

Demps didn't give him a "substantive" offer - so says Mark Spears

Cousins was spurned/not contacted by 30 teams
