Not happy he is coming back but at least it is only a 1 year deal. Surely an overpay, but sounds like it made his agent happy, business I guess.

Hopefully KCP will be more focused on playing within the offense this year and not gambling so much on D.

I think you'll be more pleased with him this season when he's playing his proper role, getting a ton of shots off Lebron passes, and he isn't spending his weekends in lockup.

Yeah... last year was odd for KCP. I think this year will be better for him.

I mean, from Janurary 1st to the end of the season, KCP only shot 1.6% worse than Redick from 3 (42.5% vs 44.1%)

KCP was excellent during the 2nd half of the season. He boarded like a monster too in addition to his excellent 3 pt shooting.

After he got out of jail he was balling.
And he's familiar with Luke's system, so I'm happy with him coming back.

It was great to see him get involved as a team rebounder with Zo and Hart. He was a subpar rebounder in Detroit, but it looks like that was a product of Drummond hoovering up all the boards rather than KCP being incapable/unwilling.

Would prefer JJ. He’s way more efficient than KCP.

Hope KCP has his head in straight this season and plays up his defense

Overall I think it's a wash.

I think we forget that KCP is just 25. His best years are still ahead of him.

Lakers now own his early bird rights too.

This was obviously an overpay at $12M, but it's not the worst thing in the world. Dude can defend and shoot and you have to pay a premium for 1 year deal. And I'm sure it was a favor to lebron's agent.

we gave him good deals for 2 straight years now. what are the odds, if we land Kawhi, he takes a paycut next summer so we retain his bird rights?

KCP is solid. Also if the Lakers trade for KL, I could see keeping him long term in an extension. Wouldnt the Lakers have partial bird rights?

this was more a favor to Klutch/KCP than anything

Personally, I think we should have thrown that money + some to Ariza on the year deal he took.

KCP is nine years younger and much better on defense. KCP was also lights out from the three after his legal problems ended -- 42.5% on 5.3 attempts per game from January to April.

He better be coming off the bench this year.

Hopefully.

Ideally this is what I would want:

Lonzo Ball/Rajon Rondo/Lance Stephenson
Brandon Ingram/KCP/Lance Stephenson
Lebron James/Josh Hart/Svi
Kyle Kuzma/Mo Wagner
Javale McGee/Ivica Zubac/Mo Wagner

But I guess we will see.

How much run did KCP get at the 3 last year? Would be awesome if he played some backup minutes at the 3 to give Hart some more run at the 2. With both on the floor they could spread the floor pretty well.

well spending your nights in jail would probably have a negative impact.

Emplay mentioned in one of his podcasts, that he could see KCP being retained over Randle. I think KCP is going to be better this year, especially playing with LeBron and Rondo.

Emplay has been a top notch guy in knowing stuff for a while, so no surprise that he knew the Lakers would keep KCP

Is this opinion still being tossed about after the Clippers' signing of Avery Bradley? I wonder if professional Lakers FO troll Windy has even retired it.
