The rotations next season will be very interesting.

Based on the players it seems we will be very defensively focused.

It looks like we will play a lot of 3 guard lineups.

I guess we will see Lebron playing some center

Center Mcgee, Zu, Wagner (Total 25/30 Minutes) Lebron, Kuz
PF: Kuz, Lebron, BI, Wagner, Deng
SF: Lebron, BI, Stevenson, Kuz, KCP, Deng, SVI
SG: KCP, Stevenson, Hart, Ball, BI, SVI
PG: Ball, Rondo, BI

Playing over 30 Minutes: Lebron, BI and Kuz
Playing between 20-30 Minutes: Ball, KCP, Rondo
Less than 20 Minutes: Stevenson, McGee, Zu, Wagner, Hart

On the Bench not in rotation: Deng, SVI

Do we really go with a 11 man rotation? Or is Zu or Wagner added to the not in rotation.

Lonzo/Rondo
Pope/Hart
Ingram/Stephenson/Lebron
Lebron/Kuzma/Wagner
Zubac/McGee/Wagner

I have a feeling Zubac might surprise us.

Lance wasn't a better defender then Ingram last season, he certainly won't be the next season.

Defensively I'd either start Ingram, or depending on the matchup I like both KCP/Hart next to Lonzo.

Lance had a higher defensive rating than BI last season and for certain defensive assignments (which is the entire reason we signed him), Lance will certainly be more effective than BI. BI is a good defender and should be better this year and in certain circumstances I expect he will be better than Lance.

for anyone that thinks the Lakers will considering starting Kuzma over Ingram simply for shooting purposes:

Hey “Melo doesn’t play defense” crowd

Guess who was better at each of these last season between Kuz & Melo?

tDPOE: Melo
D-PIPM: Melo
DRPM: Melo
D-RAPM: Melo
Luck adjusted defensive on/off: Melo
Competency based defensive grade: Melo

Keep in mind these adjust for team defenseHey

PostPosted: Sun Jul 08, 2018 7:05 am    Post subject: How would you divide up minutes?

Point Guards:

Rondo - 24 minutes
Ball - 24 minutes
Hart/Lance - possibility extended minutes here if Lonzo struggles.

Reasoning: I think Rondo is going to have a great year and Ball is going to play better as well. He's going to be constantly challenged and I see these two splitting the minutes. Some games / stretches one or the other will have more minutes based on their success at a given time.

Shooting guards:

Pope - 30 minutes
Hart/Lance - 18 minutes (based on play)

Reasoning: The veteran Pope should get most of the minutes but I see Hart and or Lance getting about 18 a night / depending on play and matchups and etc.

Small Forwards:

BI - 30 minutes a game
Kuzma - 18 minutes at SF

PF:

Lebron - 38 minutes
Kuzma - 10 minutes at PF (28 minutes in all)

C:

McGee - 18 minutes a game
Melo - If get him - about 30 minutes a night - will slide down to
PF..also if we get Melo - McGee numbers might go down or may not play against certain teams which will create more playing time for maybe Lance/ Hart/ etc.

This is why I think the Lakers should really consider signing Melo. Talk about position less basketball and matching ups. Just creating havoc for the other teams. It can be done. McGee will probably be the guy who sacrifices most...but he was used to this in GS. Against teams where we need a big man, he will play more. However, this is how the NBA is played today.

How many of you would like to see this lineup?

C - Lebron
PF - Melo
SF- BI
SG - Pope
PG - Ball

Or how about:
C- Lebron
PF-Melo
SF - Kuzma
SG- BI
PG - Rondo

Imagine the different lineups and squads we can put on the court and we can make it work minutes wise. Plus, guys will have to produce or be benched. A lot of pressure will be on certain guys when you have other guys that can come in and produce.

Bad idea to play Bron that long running our system, he shouldn't average more than 34 mpg. Kuzma should average around 32

The great thing about vets, Luke isn't going to play the hot guys at the end. So lineups stay more consistent imo

Assuming we get Brook or someone else to help out at C

PG Ball 28/Rondo 20
SG KCP 25/Hart 20/Svi 3
SF - BI 30/Kuzma 18
PF - Lebron 35/Kuzma 13
C - Brook 25/McGee 15/Zubac or Wagner 3

I think, unlike past seasons...we should have a decent amount of blowouts, so our young guys like Svi and Wagner can get some more run in those. I’d like to see Lebron dial his minutes back to 35, no need to for him kill himself...I’d like to see him take 10 or so games off this season too to rest.

I think lance will be largely out of the rotation, maybe he will get a few minutes here and there. I think Kuzma has a legit chance for a 6th man of the year award.

That looks like a great bench. I hope we sign Brook or another C (I like Len), the thought of playing Zubac 24 MPG makes me nervous, I know his per 36 and his advanced defensive numbers say he should be able to handle it...I just don’t believe in him I guess. He seems really soft to me.

Take out Hart and replace him with Stephenson for defensive purposes when going up against those offensive powerhouses

I'm guessing replace Ariza with Green.

More like the "lineup of dearth" so far...

Lonzo/rondo
Kcp/hart
Ingram/lance/svi
Bron/kuzma/svi
McGee/zubac/wagner

I think hart eventually beats out kcp for starting 2 later in the season.

Death lineup: bron/ingram/hart/kcp/lonzo

That death lineup defense to offense style would be incredible imo. Versatile and quick on both ends. Anyone can handle the ball, all can shoot, pass, finish. Lonzo outlets to bron or vice versa.
