There are countless stories of players playing one way in the NCAA b/c of their team.

Kuz is an example. Utah had him playing a traditional back to basket PF.

Very impressive. Spot up and catch and shot player. Does create enough space to get his shot off. The kid is going to help us this year.

Svi is the real deal and a steal for a mid 2nd rounder. He seems like a lock to make the team and he has a chance made the rotation. He also seems to have some real athletic ability and can play the 2/3.

I don't know how you cannot like him. He doesn't seem to have the killer instinct that Kuz did coming out but Kuz was a little older.

He also seems to find a way to get an open shot and make them. I don't think they will cover him that tight if he makes the rotation.

We can let him go back to his euro team for a yr or 2

But we've signed, if we release we lose his draft rights? Or not? I'm confused.

Does the 15th spot really matter? If the 15th player has to play then the Lakers are in trouble.

Lateral speed, ball handling. Those are liabilities if you play him at the 2.

Interesting. Ball handling could be an issue for sure but he seems plenty athletic enough to utilize lateral speed to stay in front of opposing SG/SF's.

I didn't watch much Kansas b-ball until March - but Svi shot 44.4% from 3 his senior yr. Scouting depts are relying so much on POTENTIAL talent - they actually are overlooking REAL talent. In this case - I'm glad they did!!!

Not to discount the importance of wingspan/athleticism...but you also have to know how to play basketball.

the problem is that many of our 15 are either bad or could/should have been replaced by better players

Wait, did we sign Bonga already and not svi? So Bonga can’t stay stashed?

Who's bad? If you are referring to Zubac then I disagree with you.

Caruso is the 16th player at this time.

Everyone's opinion is different as to who would be better players that we could have acquired.

Svi has good handles. Kansas has had ball dominant guards these past 4 years so he did not get much opportunity to handle the ball.

Caruso is still taking up a 2-way slot though so I count him. Caruso, Zubac, Bonga and Stephenson are all bad IMO. I'd rather have Bonga on a 2-way and the rest not be on the team at all.

I can't complain about 2 way players. They are at the fringe of the NBA and easily replaceable. What I do value with Caruso is his defense. Hard to evaluate offensively when your playing time is sporadic and limited but has done well in the g-league in this respect.

Been a supporter of Zubac since before his draft. Still am but I need to see how he has physically improved during the pre-season.

Stephenson - I am always okay with a player that has extensive playoff experience and performed well. Although not sure how he fits with LBJ.

Bonga - I believe I was the first to bring him up as a draft and stash in the draft thread so I obviously liked him. Got negative responses to my post from 2 of the respected draft guru's but I still believe in his talent. I just expected him to spend 1 year overseas to develop his game but I guess since he signed for 3 years that additional year is like a stash except he works with the Lakers development staff and gets more game experience in the g-league.

There was one vs Bulls where he fumbled, backdribbled to get behind the arc, and put it up fast. Regardless of how fast, the same shooting form he has with more time and space was there. There was a 3 pt flick from side of the arc in one of the Sac games that he shot as soon as it touched his hand. That dude's a pure shooter. His release almost looks like Peja's. A shooter who is finally going to live up to the label.

He can shoot like Korver but he's a better athlete. Can take it to the rim and board. I love this pick so much.

Yeah. He can create his own shot, hits off the dribble and can do it from a standstill. Can release it very quickly with good form as I posted above. Korver was the 51st pick and he gets paid and no one thinks of that draft position when they hear their team is tryin to sign him as a shooter. If this Svi kid can ball with the big boys, I hope to see the FO and Luke live up to their old hat claim that you earn minutes on this team.
