yeah, but doubt that happens....they have not offered Ingram.

So just Bi, picks and a stretched Dengbdoes it or do we have to include Zu?

Wait a minutes...you're giving up on the Lakers because they didn't resign Julius Randle? Come on man...

I’m giving up on the idea that other moves will be made. This is likely our team for the season. Randle will be fine, he went to a top 3-4 West team and can get paid next offseason. We need to forget about him and think about what Stephenson, Rondo and McGee can give us.

You really project the Pels as a top 3-4 West team? You might be more bullish on them than even the biggest NO homers. They effectively replaced Rondo and Cousins with Payton and Randle. Seems lateral at best even with Boogie’s injury.

I would pretty confidently put them behind Warriors, Rockets, Lakers, Jazz and Thunder.

Boogie wasn't on the team when they swept the Blazers. Rondo is a loss, but they did gain Randle.

my quick math...stretching Deng opens up enough space plus Ingram or Ball's salary and $4.8 Million is greater than Kawhi's salary.

They'll have to sign or trade for someone to be able to use the money promised to Stephenson and vet min deals . They could just give the the remainder to Stephenson and hold onto the space exception for a cut player.

I don't think we will. I think Ingram and Kuz are not being traded period. I think the highest price they pay is Hart...filler like Wagner, Zu, Deng....IMO it will have to be some type of 3 -way trade. Fro example Lakers, Denver and Spurs where we end up with Kawhi...Spurs with Hart and Faried and 2 #1's..and Nuggets with Deng, Zu and a filler. Again just my opinion.

if the reports about LeBron basically loving Ingram's game and his potential, i'd highly doubt he is involved in a trade. Same goes for Lonzo. That being said, its very had to believe anything being "reported" so I guess time will tell.

I do hope Ingram, Lonzo, and Kuz are not traded.

I don't think that's correct, unless the Lakers front loaded the deal.

says the Master Baiter.

Says anyone who has a clue. Once we begin signing the players we have committed to we will be locking ourselves into this season. With the one year contracts we can have cap space next offseason. Pretty simple to see

So you'll just ignore the fact that Jules wanted the Lakers not to match any offers he got from NO thereby asking the Lakers to essentially release him.

I’m not ignoring that the Lakers wouldn’t give him a second year option.

The only use of that option is insurance against injuries otherwise it's pretty damn useless.

100% he opts out after year one which is basically what the Lakers would have given him, a one year contract.

Who was the starting center and backup center for the team who won the championship this year?

Anyone see where I’m going with this?

What if magic plans on using lebron in that Julius Randle role. Lebron as the small ball 5 would change the game. I think you are forced to go small and match up with him.

Lebron
Kuzma
Ingram
KCP
Lonzo

Lebron + Lonzo PnR

Lebron + Kuzma PnR

Lebron running the PnR from the 5

We could force teams to play our way if lebron is ok with it.
Teams with players like embiid would be pissed. You can’t hide embiid anywhere defensively against that lineup. No matter what he’s out of the paint

A lot of his defensive highlights are in the paint

How about Deng and Zu for Whiteside? Deng had his last good year in Miami and Whiteside is probably worth the $7mm difference between his and Deng's salary for this year (plus the cost of losing Zu). Whiteside is terrible. If we are spending cap space (other than 1 year rentals) on non-max players, we are doing it wrong. They didn't shed draft picks and former players to sign Whiteside dude.

It's not "signing" Whiteseide. It's leveraging Deng's 18 million for this year to get Whiteside for about 25 million. The difference in salaries might be worth the difference in production. Or it might not. That's why I'm proposing it as a suggestion. Also, if Whiteside does indeed have a good year then unloading him next summer may be more practical than unloading Deng next summer.

Explains why randle didn’t want to come back imo .

I think lebron could win his first DPOY anchoring this defense

I have doubts...no cap space left, and Deng would have to be included in any deal for Kawhi.

Had the Lakers not rescinded the QO, Randle doesn't sign any offer sheet unless he and Mintz saw it sufficient enough to deter the Lakers from matching and using him as trade filler. If Randle had no such offer, he waits like Noel and it ties up our money ($12.4M), possibly through August, and we are lucky to get Napier or Payton (Rondo's off the table by then).

All that in the hopes of signing him to a QO, and finding a team that would offer a pick just to rent him for that season (one he was WILLING to be traded to, as QOs have an auto-NTC). Not much leverage if that team tries to low-ball us.

Moreover, it is unlikely any team in the market for a short rental has the space to offer him the deal he wants, so they wouldn't trade anything significant. I'd rather have Rondo than a guy on his way out who doesn't fit with our best player.
