Anyone who believes this is a sicko and anyone who doesn't believe it is a wacko. If you simply have an open mind, then you are a sick wacko!! (In lieu of participating in the civility thread).

I was like, man, he knows the entire roster. Loves Luke’s system. He said Earvin, you know, I just want to come and be able to just play basketball and be me. And you have the type of roster I think that I think I can do that
Good to hear.
Quote:
He went on to describe how Luke Walton has decided to have an “incredibly competitive” training camp where all the spots are going to be open, aside from LeBron James. “The four other starters are going to be the starters who will help us win the most games. Players are going to be held accountable and we’re going to be prepared.”
And Luke also confirmed that he and LeBron have corresponded through text message. _________________ “Christ did not die to forgive sinners who go on treasuring anything above seeing and savoring God. And people who would be happy in heaven if Christ were not there, will not be there."

One of the biggest questions with Luke will be how he's developed as a head coach heading into year 3. He's still really young as a head coach on any level, and he's handled the pressure fairly well, but even he can stand to learn some things with the expectations raised exponentially heading into this season.
Btw, who's Golden's State and Houston's shooting coaches?
Players have individual shooting coaches.
Does a player request that? Or does the team?
Players. It’s like baseball... players have their own hitting coaches that they work with in the offseason and that they keep in touch with during the season. The teams hitting coach job is basically to observe and not mess up what the personal coach has been working on.
One nugget from the Lakers story we just posted. Yes, Luke Walton has been in touch with LeBron James. They texted the whole time LBJ was in Italy and made plans to meet in person soon to talk hoop.
I really like Luke Walton as a coach, he's not the best but I think that he's the best fit for us right now.
He doesn't have an overly complicated offensive system because he spent most of last season emphasizing defense which is good when you add a Lebron James because it sort of changes the entire offense. Plus, Lebron isn't a fan of overly complicated offensive systems.Right now I'd characterize Luke Walton as a defensive oriented coach which is exactly what we need. Offense won't be a problem with Lebron, but getting everyone to buy into a defensive scheme will which is something Luke has shown he can get players to do.
I'm not a huge fan of his rotations or his play calling but I like how he manages minutes, I think he'll do a good job of getting everyone the minutes they deserve.
We basically run the same offensive schemes as the Warriors. If we run the LeBron system (and I've said this too many times), we are not going to win in the West. I want to see if LeBron will consistently set those off-ball screens. _________________

No doubt the upcoming season will be Luke’s biggest challenge. We shouldn’t forget he was brought in with the impression to develop young prospects. Most people expected him to grow with the young core. I think he has the tools to be a good coach but it won’t be this year or even next years. Spoelstra had Riley to give him guidance but who does Walton have?
The first thing he needs to do is to find someone who really knows how to draw up plays. Teams with LeBron don’t usually have patience. If we underachieve then Luke will be fired. Phil won’t replace Luke but I think if he comes, he can be an ideal guy to give advice to Luke if needed.
Writing is on the wall. Walton is a goner just matter of when. I’m all for that as long as we don’t hire Phil.
Why do you think that? I haven't seen any writing on the wall.
Luke is not a Maginka hire. This is a big enough reason and a very material fact in the professional world.
But Luke has the backing of Jeanie (Magic's boss), is a Laker alumni and Maginka seems to like him, bet his job is pretty secure as long as the team performs well

People like to point that out, but Luke is as much their guy as the others they've personally brought in because of the way they talked about him when they came on initially. They were head over heels for Luke. Rob called him a championship caliber coach and they’ve consistently stressed the fact that it’s a committee effort between Jeanie, Magic, Rob, and Luke in building the team and establishing the direction. Rob in particular has said that their approach in the draft and the way they build the roster overall is according to Luke’s basketball vision. It amazes me that people just ignore all of this and don't think it through.
And besides, let's not forget that Magic and Rob work for Jeanie at the end of the day. She's the boss. Even if the day ever came where they would want to fire him, it wouldn't matter because of Jeanie. And she's been very frank publicly that Luke isn't going anywhere. There's no writing on the wall except what other people have written themselves through their own assumptions and speculations, and they're just projecting those things onto the FO.
And these same people have been saying the same thing about BI since last year. ’Oh, the new regime didn't draft him! Oh! He's gonna get shipped eventually.’ He’s still here. People need to look beyond the fact that the new regime didn’t hire Luke or draft BI and actually start listening to what they say about them. _________________ “Christ did not die to forgive sinners who go on treasuring anything above seeing and savoring God. Bingo. If Luke gets replaced, it will be warranted because everybody wants him to succeed.
