IIRC Emplay said LA's priority was finding a small ball center to fill out the roster. What would people think of a minimum flier on Noah Vonleh for that role? He's 22 and an unrestricted free agent.

I like that idea. As a 5th big man, no problem here.
Pretty amazing that aside from Embiid/Wiggins, people in that class haven't seen the big $$$.

Yes. How many centers do they have on that team?
What would you trade?

Lavine just got paid
So did Gordon.
Capela's about to get paid too. _________________ A banana is killed every time a terrible thread or post is made. Save the bananas. Stop creating terrible posts!

Not trading a future 1st for him though. He may be expendable b/c they have so many bigs that need playing time (and they may not want to pay him). _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals

We aren't going to rely on Javale as our primary center. As many have said, expect about 10-12 minutes from him. Just based on his history and the likely role he'll have here (shot swatter/lob target/energy burst big) he won't be relied on consistently into any real game plan. He may indeed start, but the bulk of minutes at the 5 position will not go to him. He's too one dimensional offensively, doesn't have a post game, not a good facilitator, only a mediocre screener. On defense he has his moments, but his days of high end athleticism are coming to an end. He's good in moments as we saw in the Finals, but anyone counting on that through a season are setting themselves up for a massive disappointment. There is a reason GSW started playing Looney and Bell over him. They are smarter players, better switch defenders, and have higher upside. There is a reason we only signed him or a one year vet minimum deal. So its not the end of the world that we have him. Honestly, 10 minutes of high energy play is good enough. Again, its only one year on a vet min deal. He won't be a Laker after this year.
Paragraphs please... I think there's a possibility he stays. A low maintenance, rim protecting, finisher at the rim is always a good piece on a team. He was a key contributor with two of the Warriors championship run. We'll see how he does this year.

If the Lakers are targeting a small ball center then eyeing John Henson makes sense, it’s unlikely Henson will have a big role on the Bucks with Lopez going there, getting Henson would be a very nice move for the Lakers, just not sure what we can give up.

I would say there is about 99% chance he exits.....so should they try to move him now?
No way. Unless they want Deng and the 2019 1st. Otherwise we'll see him when he's a FA.
I was asking from their position...not if we should seek to acquire him. The writing seems to be getting clear that he will leave....they have to think about trying to get something for him.

I think pride will stop Thibs from doing the right thing. No way Butler re-signs there. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals

I like Henson, but I don't see Lakers adding him to the mix since he's under contract for this year and next year. Don't look at the Lakers adding any moves that makes signing a 2019 FA to a max contract any more difficult.
What if magic plans on using lebron in that Julius Randle role. Lebron as the small ball 5 would change the game. I think you are forced to go small and match up with him.
Lebron
Kuzma
Ingram
KCP
Lonzo
Lebron + Lonzo PnR
Lebron + Kuzma PnR
Lebron running the PnR from the 5
We could force teams to play our way if lebron is ok with it.
Teams with players like embiid would be pissed. You can’t hide embiid anywhere defensively against that lineup. No matter what he’s out of the paint
A lot of his defensive highlights are in the paint
No way they start games with that lineup against teams that start a C with traditional size. They'd practically be begging him to wear himself out and get injured.
Not to begin games, no, but definitely to end most games.
That is CLEARLY the best lineup (with Rondo and Hart able to supplant Ball and Pope), and it is CLEARLY the lineup the front office has eyed as the game changing lineup like the OP has stated.
The idea is completely reasonable, and it really shouldn’t be fought like it’s being fought. I suppose people really do have to see it to believe before they get on board.
I don't think LeBron wants oris the best choice to close games at C. Can he match on the glass or defend in the post guys like with A. Davis, Cousins, Capela, Jokic, Aldrige Towns or even Nurkic? These are likely the other centers that will be in the playoffs in the west.

Something about JB says that's unlikely. But would be awesome if he did.

I don't think he opts in going into his age 30 season. That is the start of the decline and he may want to cash out soon. _________________ Previously LBJ23

I'm worried that he might not stay with us long-term is the thing. But I guess if we only have to give up Deng and 2 picks that could be worth it. _________________ one dog goes that way the other dog goes the other way

That’s the unfortunate part, cause Henson would be a excellent fit on this team.
Have ya'll watched Noah Vonleh play? I mean actually play, outside of highlights. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

He is against the Warriors when Green is at C. That would also give him time off on defense. _________________ Previously LBJ23
