Wait... first he said he wasn't playing in the JBA and now he is playing there? So did NO other SL/GLeague teams want to give him a shot? That's kinda sad... (although was he the one that was shoplifting in China?)

Eight teams (LA, NY, Hou, Chi, Dal, Phi, Atl, Sea) all with the team name of "Ballers". No TV contracts so the games are broadcast over Facebook. No sponsors other than BBB so far.

I don't know if any of these players are among the top prep players but I sure hope Lavar isn't convincing any of them to leave high school early like he did with his own son.

Speaking of Lamelo, in four games he's averaging about 35 shots per game. No surprise that's the most on the team. About a third of his shots are from 3pt range where he's shooting 19.5%.

You paying attention NBA GMs?

Poor Lonzo. He's going to waste all his money on his dad's ideas.

I wonder how much it costs to rent those arenas and fly those teams across the country to play each other....I can't imagine its cheap.

if he stayed at UCLA for 4 years and Lavar kept his mouth shut he would have atleast got a summer league invite somewhere.

Undisciplined and impatient. I doubt the JBA will teach him skills necessary to get to the NBA level. Don't forget most of the best NBA prospects are in NCAA competition so he'll never be able to hone his skills against good competition.

He would have gotten to play with his brother at UCLA too.

I'd love to see some team invite one of the Ball Bros to camp and give LeVar a stern warning that is he shoots his mouth off about anything regarding their team or coaches they will IMMEDIATELY release his son...!

And then do it, because I'm sure he won't be able to control himself when a reporter shoves a mic in his face..

Then he can look his kid in the guy and have him say "thanks dad".

That China thing screwed up plans big time. Playing at UCLA would have been the best thing for Gelo for a myriad reasons. Good growth opportunity, plus if he did refine his game and develop, he could have played with LaMelo again as well as raise his stock (plus that of their brand)
significantly. We'll never know now. Shame.

Yeah, that's true but the China thing wasn't something Gelo couldn't recover from. If Lavar hadn't been so arrogant and let Gelo take the suspension instead of treating UCLA as a way station to his NBA career, things might have turned out differently.

It's too bad he didn't pay attention to the Holiday brothers game plan. Even though Jrue was good enough to jump to the NBA after one year like Lonzo, Justin and Aaron realized they needed time to develop at the college level and now all three made it to the NBA. Justin made it despite going undrafted.

exactly
and one thing to consider is that if it wasnt China something else would have spurred Lavar to pull him out of UCLA. He was feeling himself big time and ego was at a all-time high after Lonzo was drafted by the Lakers. It was only a matter of time before Lavar would have gotten fed up with UCLA and put Gelo on a team where he had more control over (Lithuania, JBA)

Lavar is a POS that ruined ANY chance of Gelo ever sniffing the NBA and it looks like Melo could be on that same road.

Anyone whose watched the reality show can see that he just feeds them the same BS he spits out and definitely has the younger kids thinking that he has a master plan for them making it to the NBA.

The JBA is a (bleep) show for his sons to do whatever the hell they want to put up numbers.

Check out this vid of the coach of the Chicago Ballers "coaching" one of his players.

LINK

That wiki page of the the JBA is hilarious.

Looks pretty bad, but if nobody is paying attention the remedy for the league takes care of itself. That coach won't be "coaching" for long.

First game for Gelo: 53 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists

His team wins 171-138 (yes the teams really scored that many points).

Do they play defense in this league? Doesn’t seem like it.

No defense on Gelo and Melo or you're fired.

At the play-by-play hyping up that lame off the glass dunk by Melo.

this really seems like glorified church league....

LiAngelo took 54 shots in one game to score 48 points.

Quote:
So through two games with the perfectly named Los Angeles Ballers, LiAngelo is averaging 50.5 points on 44.8 percent shooting and nearly a triple-double with 13 rebounds and nine assists per game. Time will tell if that’s enough to earn him a G League invite.

Naturally, LiAngelo’s younger brother LaMelo has also been getting in on the action. Through six games, LaMelo is averaging 39.3 points per game on 41 percent shooting with 10.8 assists.

LINK

Quote:
LaMelo isn’t here alone. His older brother LiAngelo is on the court as his teammate after joining the JBA last week. Together, the two will combine to take 87 of their team’s 127 shot attempts on the night. They both play all 48 minutes and are on their way to posting gaudy stat lines. LiAngelo finishes with 54 points on 49 shots and grabs 16 rebounds. LaMelo puts up 47 points on 38 shots with 15 rebounds.

LINK

they got up 127 FG attempts in one game.....the Lakers averaged less than 89 per game last season......neither one of these kids will play in the NBA.

Really was the worst decision to completely leave UCLA.

JBA is not legit.

They could have had all three bros out of UCLA and possibly in the NBA.

Now they are just lucky Lonzo is a Laker.

This message was not paid for by BBB.

Bye.
