Bonga's a project pick. I'll wait a year before complaining. If the coaching staff thinks they can develop him then I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for now.
But yeah, Melton looks like he could be useful right now. |
Melton looks like a player that may make a lot of teams regret passing on him....I was high on him during the draft....but there were a few other guys in that thread that were really high on him (Mike, BVH, KIROE?).....like as in Top 15-20 pick. Right now, I think they may have had a point. |
I was a Melton guy. Sigh. I was ecstatic when he was still there at 39, thought we might hit it out of the park. Oh well. |
I could not really recall....but I remember a lot of the regular guys in that thread was higher on him than me....I liked him....just less than many of you guys. _________________ "To arrive at a contradiction is to confess an error in one's thinking; to maintain a contradiction is to abdicate one's mind and to evict oneself from the realm of reality." I'm not ready to call Bonga a bust, but, I mean, it's fair to say we drafted a project. And that Melton looks good. I, for one, am not surprised that he looks good. I would've taken him at 25, so, obviously, I think it should've been an easy call to take him at 39. Of course, I'm just ChickenStu on LG, and the FO has earned the benefit of the doubt on their picks in late 1st/2nd round, and maybe there is something in Melton's background or medical check that made 45 players get picked ahead of him.
But that doesn't mean that I can't have an opinion! |

I don't think anyone expected Bonga to be anything other than the project. The FO seems to think that he has potential and can be developed into something they find appealing.
We'll see if teams were justified in their apparent feelings towards Melton as a prospect or not. |

I think it was a well educated guess from most that he was going to remain stashed in the Euro leagues because he wasn't ready for an NBA contract. That evolved into not playing in Summer League. That was still only speculation. Don't recall the Lakers ever saying anything to that effect.
EDIT: Of course, he couldn't play in the California Classic because the earliest he could be a Laker was on July 6th. Not sure if that's what you are referring to. |

You are overexcited, it is Summer League. I love Hart but doubt he comes close to being an all star. _________________ 867-5309 |

3 Ball
1 to 4 Defender
Great Handles
Superb Finisher
Very Confident
Beautiful Work Ethic
I think he will determine who and what he becomes. _________________ "This game's in the refrigerator. The door is closed, the lights are out. the eggs are coolin', the butter's gettin' hard and the jello's jigglin'."

I love Josh, but he does need to improve his perimeter defense. It's not good right now. |

Lateral quickness and defense is something he specifically worked on this off season per 710 espn reports. |

looking through the SL teams....we kind of had a very lucky draw with the three teams we played to get the #1 seed. _________________ "To arrive at a contradiction is to confess an error in one's thinking; to maintain a contradiction is to abdicate one's mind and to evict oneself from the realm of reality." Robert Williams is acting like Royce White, could be another wasted 1st round pick. |

Let's see...misses introductory call...misses flight for press conference...misses 1st practice...loses wallet twice...questionable work ethic...has anyone thought that there might be a drug addiction problem with this kid?
I remember everyone talking ish about Mo and saying this kid was an A+ steal at 27...yeah...let's not act like we haven't seen this type of erratic behavior too many times across all sports.
Walks like a duck, talks like a duck...it's a duck. There was a reason he wasn't on our draft board. _________________ "This game's in the refrigerator. The door is closed, the lights are out. the eggs are coolin', the butter's gettin' hard and the jello's jigglin'."
