Los Angeles Lakers rookie center Moritz Wagner is predicted to have a rough first season in the NBA.
Quote: | With the No. 25 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, the Los Angeles Lakers selected Michigan center, Moritz Wagner. The Lakers have had great success in recent years draft near the end of the first round. They are hoping that will happen once again with Wagner.
However, over at Bleacher Report, they are thinking that fans should pump their breaks. |

The Bleacher Report comments were from just after the draft. The paragraph below the opinion of the author from the end of the article posted today. Only time will tell which will happen this season.
IMO the center position is wide open. Wagner has an opportunity to play if he can earn it on the defensive end. Not likely a big impact player but going to be fun to watch when he does get mpg. Even if infrequently and minimal.
Love his energy. His "c'mon man " with Madsen is classic! Hope he earns and thrives in his playing time.
"Given the lack of options on the roster and versatility of his teammates, Wagner will have more of a role than originally believed. He should surpass the predicted stats from the article rather easily, especially if he locks down the backup center spot." |

not sure why they are analyzing an article that was written before free agency and Summer League. How do you make an informed projection when you do not know who is on the roster or even watched them play in summer league? |

That moment with Madsen warmed my heart. _________________ It was reminiscent of one of those Most Interesting Man in the World advertisements: "I don't always shoot 6-for-28 from the field, but when I do, I become the youngest player in league history to score 28,000 career points." |

Yeah I'd have rolled with Robinson too (and he's showing why) but Wagner will at worst be an effective role player in the NBA. A big who can shoot like that, play with energy, and get up and down the floor is going to be fine. |

Agree that Robinson looks good but let's let it play out.
You're on the record you prefer Robinson let's revisit in 3 years.
As for Porzy ...so?
Dude is a huge injury risk that already has a major one after 1.5 seasons. even if Ayton/doncic/Bagley went there I would say ...
So? |

If Wagner went to Boston people would be wax on wax off about him for the next 4 seasons. |

Porzy ? Wagner doesn't move or handle the ball like Porzingis, and he lacks the NY player's coordination, release point, reach and length. I like Mo's enthusiasm, and I am looking forward to this season's work to reveal whether he's got the talent to make that pay off or not. Time will tell. _________________ “These GOAT discussions are fun distractions while sitting around waiting for the pizza to be served.”

I see Mo as a spark plug for our bench group. His ability to score vs backups is where the mismatches will occur. That’s how you minimize his deficiency on defense. Just go get buckets.
I don’t expect him to see much time on the court with Lebron. |

Mo will thrive if the pace is fast and he'll struggle if we play half court. It's all up to Luke to make sure he uses everyone's talents. |

We are finally at a place where we can develop young talent without throwing them into a major role.
Wagner needs to get stronger, more explosive & improve his handle. His quickness seems pretty good. This year he will get some playing time but probably as the 3rd center and 3rd PF. I would not get too excited about him for this year.
I think we look more towards next year. He will be bigger, stronger, more explosive and have a year of experience. We will have a spot open for him as the 1 year guys will be gone so that we can sign a another big time FA like KL. We will need MO and SVI to be rotational players next year and they should both be ready. |

Mo showed some nice passing flashes imo. And actually handles the ball just as well if not better. Porzingis makes dribble moves every once in a whil, but he’s not quick enough to have that be a consistent weapon in his game
Mo’s obviously nowhere near Porzingis, but Porzingis isn’t wing player skilled in any facet but shooting |
