This team reminds me a lot of the Detroit team that did what not many thought was possible. They were a long, defensive minded, sharp edged crew with enough scoring to take down 4 future hall of famers at the time. I remember watching replays of that damn series trying to figure out how the Lakers lost. This current Laker roster brings back bad memories, but at the same time a sense of hope because they remind me of those Pistons but with the potential to be superior. Makes me wonder if Kobe and Magic sat down and analyzed past times a great offense was taken down by a great defense and picked that Piston team to help design this Laker roster. _________________ Homer: "Weaseling out of things is important to learn. Think about whom the best defender on our team now is.
And you'll see we aren't the 2004 Detroit Pistons. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

This whole "we're gonna beat the Warriors by being the exact opposite."
I wonder how that mentality is gonna hold throughout the season. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

The 2004 Pistons had the luxury of facing our dysfunctional and injured Lakers.
Unless the same fate hits the Warriors, the comparison isn't the same.
Also, the Pistons didn't have the best player in the game. _________________ I miss you Kobe. I miss you Gigi. |

Pistons had a post presence in Ben Wallace and Chauncey was Mr. Clutch in the 4th. As good as Lebron is, I don't think of him as clutch except when he plays the Raptors.
I think that 2004 Pistons team could challenge the Warriors. |

I see no comparison. Our roster is best suited to playing fast break basketball. That Pistons team didn't shoot the ball unless there was less than 5 seconds left on the shot clock. _________________ Lakers 49ers Chargers Dodgers |

Lakers have by far the best player compared to the Pistons but we definitely dont have 4 other players that match the hard nosed experience of that Detroit team _________________ (bleep) Kawhi |

It just shows how one series can completely overrate and change the narrative of a team. They struggled to get past the Bucks in the ECF, and hit the jackpot facing a team that was willing to hit self-destruct. Frankly, I'm not sure that Lakers even wanted to win a championship. So many agendas and motivations were better suited by a loss.
Every time I hear Chauncey referred to as "Finals MVP" I still get a wince in my side.

Warriors offense is too much for the 2004 pistons who wouldn’t be able to keep up with the onslaught of attacks. Warriors are much faster and able to kill you in a multitude of ways that negate Rasheed and Tayshaun and Ben Wallace, not to mention Draymond would kick or grab or punch each of them in the balls at some point in the series and then yell at the ceiling for no reason.
Really we need Kawhi, a solid inside presence, and some elite knock down shooters to even talk about competing with GS. We can play the greatest defense ever but it wouldn’t matter because they have 3 guys who can score at will from anywhere(KD, Steph, Klay)
Two teams I would like to see go up against them are 96 Bulls and 2001 Lakers. _________________ "We are the goodest." - Shaq ESPN interview |

Curry has some off games as well as Klay, but Durant makes them nearly unbeatable. Durant is taller than his defenders and practices his shot 1,000s of times in the gym to the point where it is almost automatic in the clutch like those Game 3 Finals 4th quarte 3 point shots. Our only hope is the length of Ingram could block him, or a traded for Leonard stops him from the catch and shoot. |

One problem with that, only 2 of those hall of fame players on the Lakers were in their prime!! The Warriors big 4 are all currently in their prime!! |

That 04 Detroit team would get run over in today's league. Any team using them as a model for success in today's league is doomed. _________________ “Christ did not die to forgive sinners who go on treasuring anything above seeing and savoring God. Those Pistons were probably the best defensive team in the history of the league. Bad comparison. |
