PG: Lonzo Ball / Rajon Rondo / Alex Caruso (2-way)
SG: KCP / Lance Stephenson / Svi
SF: Brandon Ingram / Josh Hart / Isaac Bonga
PF: LeBron James / Kyle Kuzma / Luol Deng
C: JaVale McGee / Mo Wagner / Ivica Zubac

The lowest seed that LeBron James has been in his career was a 4 seed, but that was in the East. I figure they'll be somewhere in that 4-6 seed range.

55 wins and I could easily see that being a 3 seed.

The West isn't nearly as intimidating as some make it out to be.

Exactly where I have them, 55 wins and 3rd-4th seed. It's not far fetched to assume LeBron, along with the advancement of our team, will lead to a 20 win improvement from last season.

Especially when you consider that Portland/OKC/NO are all likely to remain stagnant or take a step back.

As well as Houston, with the loss of Ariza and Luc, and possibly Capella. Dude can't get an offer sheet.

It's not necessarily intimidating so much as it is daunting. Last year, we had 9 teams win 46+ games. The East had 5.

That's true, but the West had more cellar dwellers.

Phoenix, Memphis and Dallas were probably the three worst teams in the league. You can expect Dallas and Phoenix to be much improved. Those teams winning more games, along with ours and Denver's inevitable increases in wins, and teams like SAS (for sure) and Minn/Portland/OKC/NO (maybe) taking a step back will clear up a lot of the logjam in the top 8.

Houston 2 years ago won 55 without CP3, that’s pretty much what I expect from this group.

As Josh Hart is blowing up the summer league with improved skills not seen last year, people in this thread are virtually disrespecting him as an after thought backup sg or sf. They're effectively saying Ingram or Kuzma are going to be the only/main difference makers LeBron will have.

Hart in NBA terms, is going to be "a problem."

Losing Julius is going to be significant, but with expected growth and maturity, I expect 60 wins..

I don’t know what they’re going to be as a team, because obviously it’s brand new and they don’t have their identity. But at the end of the day they’ll come together with LeBron leading the charge… It’s going to be fun for fans, playing (more) in the regular season and who knows in the playoffs. So the West obviously got stronger with LeBron but you’ve still got to beat us.

I think we're the 6th seed right now.

Totally dude. Last year's playoffs I was telling my buddies that we NEED to sign SOMEONE next year to be back in the hunt.

I say roughly 50 wins, but if Ingram/Kuzma take a big step forward, and especially if we become an elite defensive team I wouldn't be surprised if we win more like 55 games.

I saw something on TV that showed how many more wins a team improved in LeBron's first year with them.

So looking at his FIRST year with the Cavs, his FIRST year with the Heat and his FIRST year BACK with the Cavs, the numbers averaged around +18 wins.

So coming to a young, talented, and improving Lakers squad, that won 35 games last season, I believe 53 to 55 wins is a reasonable expectation...

Better question is how will this team look like next season...

Terms of starters and minutes.

Not even counting Lebron and the additional veterans we added, this team was on the upswing big time. We won 35 games leaning on rookies and 2nd year guys and were riddled with injuries. With the same roster from last year, it's conceivable we would be a .500+ team. Add Lebron and the crew to that? 55+...easily.

Oh and I think we're going to roll Houston this year.

I think that the Lakers will surprise people. I think that Rondo and Stephenson will outplay their admittedly large contracts. I think that Lebron will keep them focused and playing at their best. I think BI and Kuz will both be much improved and that Lonzo will get his shot in working order.

I think we at least will make it to the WCF.

This is one of 5 posts on the previous page that don't acknowledge Josh Hart's contributions. If he came as a f/a playing like this, he'd be highly valued and ranked above KCP.

Now there's no denying Josh made great improvements and still has 2 months before the season. Now the question is, if Ingram, Kuzma, and Ball improve as expected, how much better will a quality guy like Hart make this team? I think people, including Lakers fans, are still in denial.

Based on Summer League performance? Come on. I don’t mean to be unfairly negative. Hart has looked good in the Summer League. But if he came in as a FA and tore up the Summer League, people would be wondering why a FA was playing in the Summer League.

After averaging over 20 ppg when given opportunity at the end of the season, which also included some phenomenal shooting, he's playing far better than he showed he could in limited summer league action last year.

He's doing the same or better than Summer League Finals MVP Kuzma and Ingram last summer. His shot, ability to drive virtually at will in both directions, moves, dribbling, and even his explosiveness, allhave improved.

My point is that last year, we saw Kuzma and Tatum recognized as likely impact NBA players based on college, the combines, draft position, summer league, and speculation. Josh Hart is not an unknown factor. We've now seen him playing with and against NBA competition.

We've seen his abilities in the past vs what he can do now. Based on that, imo, it's reasonable to conclude that his ability to contribute this year doesn't deserve an asterisk and it shouldn't be overlooked any more than his teammates, when factoring projected team success this year.

He also played great in the NBA as a starter when he got the chance.
