I don't know what the analytics say, but I know what my "eye test" says and playoff Rondo is not just a good defender, I would say he is a great defender.

Curry is a great player, once he returned from injury he torched Rondo. Not a knock against Rondo but great players typically dominate good players. I don’t expect Rondo to make a difference against the better perimeter players, GS and Houston have the horses and we don’t.

How Rajon Rondo could prove to be a valuable resource for Lonzo Ball next season
Quote:
A part of the polarizing moves in the post-LeBron signing, Rajon Rondo could ultimately prove his worth by helping bring along Lonzo Ball into the next stage of his development.

CJ Macollum said Rondo and Lance are good pickups for the Lakers.

CJ and Dame disagrees with you.

Yep, Rajon could silence his own critics while helping Lonzo silence his.

Probably my favorite signing of the off season because last season was pitiful with Ennis and Caruso playing so many minutes. I don't mind seeing BI play point guard, but that just makes life harder for him. I can't wait to see our second unit in action. Our guards have a lot of talent and with the addition of LeBron, 50+ wins is not a far reach anymore. Playoff drought will finally end!!

I was hoping for BI being point but this is honestly a better solution. Aside from Bron I think Rondo is the one signing I can get behind. And maybe on KCP

Rondo, Lance, Beasley with LBJ are very good signings, how many times did the young guys get torched in the 4th quarter by guys like Lillard, or get taken down repeatedly by toronto? Now we have tough defenders and playmakers who are solid in crunch time....they're going to win the tough grind it out games on the road now.....

This should be a very dangerous team come playoff time.

I still hope BI get's spot minutes and when needed as the 3rd PG. He has the ability to impact a game positively @ PG....and from what I saw last year, the best that we can expect from Caruso is to have a net neutral impact on the game.

The Lakers should now be out of the rebuilding mode and into the contend mode. No more giving time to the young core just to see them play. They have to earn the playing time now.

Rondo is a player who Lonzo might be like in many years. A great playmaker but not a good shooter. But Rondo has gotten to the point where he is acceptable. He will teach Lonzo a lot.

All of those guys are considered to be bad defenders though.

It would be idiotic to go full throttle in a pickup game.

Rondo is just better than Ball. And why wouldn’t he be? Rondo’s been through it all and is just plain better right now. It’ll be easy to see real soon.

There will be absolutely nothing wrong with Ball playing major minutes off the bench in an apprenticeship to Rondo until he’s ready to take the “old man’s” spot ... it’s been done this way since the ancient times.

Lance is kinda sorta the odd man outing terms of fit but the other 3 guys are going to thrive next to Rondo

I don't see Lance getting a lot of minutes. I think he gets squeezed out by Lebron, Kuzma, Ingram, Hart and KCP. If Svi's game carries over I think he's also a better fit than Lance.

We don't have to run a hockey lineup..

2nd unit should look more like this...

Beasley
Kuzma
Ingram
Hart
Rondo
