I agree. Perhaps a response to the common suggestion that his only mpg would be as a small ball 5?
May need a bit more weight if he intends to be battling in the paint with younger and heavier players.
Remains listed at 6'9 220lbs. Curious how inaccurate that is for him today. |

I don’t see him taking up PT UNLESS LeBron request minutes
for Deng to give him a purpose. Otherwise, he’s not making the rotation. _________________ Lakers need to build a freaking team ! |

Some users here get offended when we use the "f" word or tease about weight.
I only caught his highlights on my phone so he didn't look plump to me, but let's hope the training camp & playing alongside Lebron kicks him into higher gear. Hoping for at least spot minutes from him and the fielding the deepest team in the league. |

obviously fat is a bit of hyperbole but he definitely looked out of shape for NBA standards _________________ (bleep) Kawhi |

On that breakaway I failed to see the explosion as he approached the hoop.
One thing is certain he has not been in the gym trying to work his way back into the rotation. Let him be a constant reminder how blessed we are that Jim Buss is no longer running the team. We have him for 1 more season.
He can Bonga will hold down the end of the bench. |

Yes. This is only a trade scenario made by Bleacher Report |

In a way, he HELPS the front office maintain perspective...
"Hey Rob let's get this (veteran good locker room guy) for a few seasons above market val... [looks at Deng's salary in the Excel sheet] nevermind". |

I know that Bleacher Report/Kings trade was just a random thought, but I like the idea of the Lakers buttering up the Kings. Where as before we'd consider the Orlando Magic as the farm system for Lakers systems, the Kings can be our 2nd G-league team. Lakers North.
Magic's congratulatory tweet towards the Kings after the Cal Classic summer league tournament. Vlade's friendship. Ranadive's commitment to the Sacramento community...
butter them up, give them franchise advice from Jeannie, give them first priority if they're looking for 2nd rounders or cash considerations.. and then BOOM, unload Deng on them for expirings. I'd give a 21-cowbell salute if the Kings help us out. |

I can see this trade happening mid season.
LA could definitely use both players (Zbo & Shump), especially Zbo for front court depth. |

The Deng contract has buried the Lakers for years.
And will do so for more years.
The only thing to do is to eat it this year.
Then stretch him next year to bring in a max FA.
But whatever you do don't give up a first round choice to
dump him.
Jessie is doing a great job finding Kuzma, Hart,
Svi, and Wagner at the tail end of the draft.
May be giving up a great player just to dump him. |

Deng has 2 more year left on his contract, I’m pretty sure at some point some team is gonna want him for picks. |

the closer we get to his contract expiration the more willing teams will be willing take it on. Im pretty sure we can find a suitor or 2 who will take him next offseason without having to give up "too much" _________________ (bleep) Kawhi |

We can cut / stretch in 12 days
Once league year starts his 2018/2019 money locks in they can waive and stretch following year money |

It's been a hindrance, but one could argue it's been a blessing as its helped the FO keep perspective (and dump the previous regime)
And if they REALLY had to dump it this past offseason, like for example a Paul George/Chris Paul/Kevin Durant agreement that was never gonna happen, they would've dumped it.
It's like a scar from when you did something stupid as a teen. It's there to remind you and keep you in line. |

Let's rephrase it. Deng and a pick for an expiring contract.
Cuz that's what that would be. |

And I think with our full roster, any Deng deal is going to be an expiring contract for Deng and picks. Two players coming back probably means Deng, another player like as I or Wagner, and picks. At this point I’d rather not lose anybody other than say Lance, and he probably can’t be traded until December. |
