We're going to be THE top defensive team in the west. I'd say league, but I think Boston has an advantage going against scrubs.

I don't think GS has the mojo to keep the grind going through the regular season.

We got a team full of guys tailor-made for switching D. Not a team beats us in length + athleticism, ANTICIPATION, and we're damn hungry.

And (bleep) forget about it once the ball is turned over with this squad.

Defense is going to be interesting. None of the guys we signed is really a lock-down defender on his own. Lebron was bad on that end last year, and Rondo has been bad for a few years, so it will be interesting to see if they rebound.

McGee can play good defense but he isn't really a rim protector. I am intrigued to see how the pieces fit together. At least, the Lakers have a strategy for the kind of defense they plan to try.

There's been several players added who individually have a history of some nice defensive chops. The real unknown with our Lakers (defensively) is the coaching staff's ability to deliver this overhauled roster and disharmonious looking list of characters to a mindset of harmonious defensive strategy, perhaps before mid-season. Can they do it ? Maybe.

However, the league's direction for many years in terms of its rule changes and officiating has been one granting increasingly greater freedoms to the offensive team and taking away privilege from the defensive players. Individual ball handlers have never had it so easy as today. That suggests to me that no team can become successful mainly as a defensive team. The game's setup today just prohibits a lock down of an opposing scoring power to any great extent.

We'll just have to wait and watch to see.

I respectfully disagree due to lack of rim protection outside of McGee. If it were "Miami LeBron" on this team, I'd agree with you.

But I hope I'm wrong.

If so, most of our squad will foul out most outings before the two minute warning of the third quarter.

I like the motors in our starting backcourt with Lonzo and KCP.

I wish Luke would ask KCP to pickup the point guard 94 feet every possession. I think he has the quickness to do it and Lonzo has the length to handle 2’s.

I’m most excited about our defense tbh.

I wonder if we'll ever see a trap defense or a full court press for short stretches when we really need to uptempo the game.

We need the refs to loosen up and blow a fair whistle and allow us to play our game.

We don't have a big man on the roster that I'd call a good rebounder. Unless we're calling LBJ a "big" now.

So if I recall correctly, we were the 2nd best rebounding team in the league last season. We lost Brook, who didn't rebound, and Randle. LeBron basically replaces Randles rebounding. And I think Rondo alone replaces Brook. So there is no reason to expect a drop off in rebounding. This team won't have a double-digit rebounder, but it didn't last season either. They should still be top 5 rebounding (and, if anything, I'd argue rebounding improved by adding Rondo, as we now have 4 great rebounding guards)

We're not going to have a guy pull down 10+ boards every night, but I believe as a team we are going to rebound well. The 4 backcourt guys (Lonzo, Rondo, KCP, and Hart) are all top tier guards are far as rebounding goes at their position. LeBron obviously gets boards, Ingram's length allows him to. I'd like to see Kuzma more agressive on the glass though. As long as the bigs on the floor do a good job of boxing out, we will be fine rebounding the ball.

We lost Larry Nance though due to that trade, and he was getting 6.8 rebounds a game in just 22 minutes a game.

Although we also added Mcgee, who may be able to rebound at the same rate (although I wonder if he will play 22 minutes a game due to his asthma).

I think Lebron will have to change his game a little if he wants to do more rebounding. I think Randle is the better rebounder at this point. But if LbJ gives the rock up more this year and focuses on scoring and rebounding I could see him averaging 30/10/6

I think that we may be overlooking Zubac. Last year, Nance (in 42 games) had 11.1 rebounds per 36 minutes. Zubac (and Randle) had 10.8 rebounds per 36 minutes. If Zubac shows up ready to play this year, it could make a big difference.
