How can you not love this guy?

"Hey J-Hart, make sure it moves! Make sure the ball moves!"

Rookie not afraid to tell his senior teammates to play right!
Now this is something I noticed while listening. would he be afraid to say the same thing to bron? rondo? beasley? if so, then we have a keeper.

I see Mo as a spark plug for our bench group. His ability to score vs backups is where the mismatches will occur. That’s how you minimize his deficiency on defense. Just go get buckets.

I don’t expect him to see much time on the court with Lebron.
i was thinking the same thing. he doesnt have to play good defense to be effective. just go get a few buckets and sit back down. many backup c's cant even do that.

There are a fair amount of defensive highlights in that video too.

Kinda makes you wonder if he’s the guy that will be eating up the minutes at center this year. Magic kinda told luke at the press conference that he better get minutes. He said it jokingly but maybe he really was serious about it. Javale only averaged 11 mpg for his career. Beasley can eat up some of those minutes but Wagner may just get the rest.

The way he shoots and gets up and down the court he’s kinda like a small ball 5 with size. His defense was surprisingly better than advertised in summer league and whatever he lacks on that side of the ball he makes up for in effort. I can’t wait to see the competition at the 5

Training camp should be lit

Lonzo vs rondo vs Caruso
Kcp vs hart vs svi
Ingram vs Kuzma vs lance
Lebron vs beasley vs wear
Javale vs Wagner vs zubac

Obviously a lot of interchangeability with those matchups but we have are 3 squads deep with guys who will all be on the roster next season and they can all contribute. I can’t say I dislike any of these guys.

As for the PG position I think just Lonzo vs Rondo lol!

I watched him some in Michigan. Definitely an impact player for the Wolverines.

Imagine if he don’t have a typical first year learning curve like BI and Russell did and instead just continue to play like he did in Summer Leauge. The shooting, the hustle, the low key underrated defense. The options, oh the options!

Most likely because his shot looks so smooth

I think LeBron, Ingram, Kuz and Beasley have the 3 and 4 positions nailed down, with some Hart and spot minutes for SVI. I'll be surprised if training camp changes that. That leaves Wagner at 5, behind McGee and Zubs, and not when were trying to trot out LeBron as a 5 in 'death lineup' minutes. So my expectations for Mo this year are that they'll give him a shot now and then early on, but he will spend some significant time in South Bay developing his game as he works to get stronger. Unless he totally kills it in October and November.

Longer term I see him becoming a fan favorite with his hustle and scoring ability.

I haven't heard anything either. When I saw this thread pop up, I immediately thought something bad had happened--like he had been injured. I was glad to see your post.

After watching him in the Summer League I came away thinking he needed to get stronger and more explosive. He shot poorly in the Summer League but did shoot well in college. It may take time for him to get comfortable shooting against NBA players. I liked his grit, his quickness and hustle and he has good size. I don't think he plays much with big team this year but sees lots of time in the G League.

I think Svi is NBA ready right now but may not find a spot in the rotation. Wagner is a bit away and really could use the G league seasoning. I think Center is McGee, Zu and the small ball committee of 6'9" + players we seem to be loaded with.

I don't recall seeing Wagner in many clips lately either.

For some reason I get this picture of Lance Stephenson and Mo Wagner holed up in the film room, with the elder mentoring the young, promising rook on the art of trolling opponents into getting T'd and tossed.

Liked what I saw from Wagner too. Not looking for his success to be at Zubac's expense though.

JMO based on little more then hope. But I think Zubac will surprise this year. Nothing spectacular but consistent complementary efforts doing all the dirty work in the paint on defense and rebounding.

Wagner will only get his opportunity if Zubac or McGee need to take some nights off. I am thinking this season for Wagner will mainly be a end of the bench in a suit role. Maybe he surprises me?

But hopefully this is preparing him to take a more significant role next year when the one year contracts are gone and his inexpensive contract is needed for the roster rebuild.

Have totally forgotten about this kid. Probably a lot of GLeague run for the first few months and gets his swagger. Unlike Thomas Bryant, is a guaranteed deal so they'll probably be patient with him. Has some nice instincts but needs to get stronger as guys were pushing him around inside.

Yeah not sure he's going to have time for his behind the back maneuver at NBA speed just yet. He'll be up against quicker and stronger players, and he was getting pushed around a bit even in summer league. I think the G League and the workout room will be very good for him, because once he strengthens up a bit he could be a real good inside outside threat in a game where stretch 5's are valuable. A stretch 5 with intelligence and tons of hustle.

And he's entertaining, on the court and behind the microphone. Short run he has challenges to overcome, but long run he's got a very bright future.

Maybe it’s more then just a knee contusion?
