Kings angle=LBJ's first regular game was in Sactown
Portland angle=Dame-Lonzo Trade talks
That was your first inclination with Portland? I don't know how serious those talks ever got, if they were even real.
I think it's just a "Damian Lillard is a star, look at this good time in the Pacific Northwest that nobody ever pays attention to! And it's Lebron's first game!" angle.

When I made that prediction/post, the Dame "happy camper" tweet was still the buzz so I just guessed it would make an angle somehow. _________________ Trade AD now.
If Rondo can continue his dominance against Portland I like our chances against them in the first game, he seems to give fits to Lillard so hopefully that continues.
This schedule makes perfect sense for the league. They get the Lakers on a Thursday, and they get the Lakers in primetime on a Saturday night against college football. I don't ESPN has ever done that. I'm curious to see if ESPN will go against the NFL on Sunday.

10:30 PM ET is not really considered a primetime slot for college football....there could be some decent late matchups that week in the PAC12, but none really stand out right now. Not sure who ESPN/ABC will slot in the 8PM ET slot, but there are several big games...Michigan/Michigan State, Clemson/NC State, Alabama/Tennessee, Ohio State/Purdue....
Openers in Portland always remind me of Chick's Halloween intros.
The 00' season opener was in Portland. Shaq and JR Rider came up big.
Portland's paper had the nerve to call that "Game 8". Then Porty loses Game 8, too. That was a low scoring game. Never know which teams are gonna be rusty over the first few games. This could be our chance to snag one...or just another L.
Phil's first game in 99 was at Utah. Lakers won that'n. Can be done. Played at DEN in 05. Denver was arguably better than us, plus all the obvious hostility. Won that, though Kwame almost boofed it. _________________ GOAT MAGIC REEL SEDALE TRIBUTE EDDIE DONX!

Actually ESPN is promoting the game as being in primetime. Normally that time slot would become a 10:45 slot for USC. I can guarantee it won't be Alabama/Tennessee on ABC. ABC can't have two SEC teams play on a Saturday night.
