He also said Westbrook to the Lakers years ago.
I'd rather listen to Chris Carter on Kawhi than Jalen on Kawhi.
But I'd rather listen to none of them regarding Kawhi at this point as there's a long way to go before Kawhi has to make a decision. |

You don’t have to have sources to be relevant, especially considering how highly Pierce is looked upon by NBA players, he knows what players are up to. |
Who is he looked upon by? And where is the basis for what he knows about players? So am i to assume that pretty much every decently well known EX-NBA player knows what every NBA player is up too? Have you heard some of the stuff Pierce says? 9 times out of 10, its some (bleep). AD to Lakers is an easy rumour and thing to say. |
It’s between he and Jalen on who says the silliest stuff. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

Last week on "Get Up", Stephen A said "if the Lakers get Durant, that's going to weaken the Warriors and make the Lakers the favorites"
Jalen Rose's retort? "Well, then the Warriors are just going to sign Jimmy Butler!"
Mr. Rose apparently has never heard of the salary cap, or how over the luxury tax the Warriors are, and that one superstar, even two superstars, leaving their team doesn't automatically create max cap space. I always admired him from a "street cred" level but that response made me check-out on anything he says moving forward. |

That would be great to see, but who else would be on the roster to compensate for the acquisition of AD? It would have to be Ingram and Ball since they would earn the most among the young players. The Lakers would also need a team to give Deng a huge money contract to set off some of that dead cap space to help clear some more room. On top of all that, KL would have to be willing to take some sort of pay cut to fit everyone under the cap. |
If you want AD, I don't see how we can do it b/c he's set to make 27m next year. BI + Lonzo would be the minimum that would be required and combined they make 15m. So you can use cap space to account for some of that but still a bit short and may threaten a 2019 max slot. The math is pretty close, but i would think Pels would demand BI/Lonzo/Kuz/Hart/future 1sts as a baseline (let alone what other teams could offer). |
Mid season trade would easily get it done. |

I don't see Pels trading AD mid-season. I think they'll be in the playoff discussion but not as a contender. Next year's deadline (2020) will probably be when AD may seek a trade. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

I don't know. Seems like Rob was alright with the outcome:
http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/24070278/los-angeles-lakers-gm-rob-pelinka-built-team-differently-lebron-james
"There's been this kind of surge of 'Hey, where are the shooters?'" Pelinka explained. "To me, that's a little bit of a misnomer because, again, we wanted a particular type of shooter. When we looked at the free-agent list, the elite shooters ... guys who have had max deals as shooters are in the 38 to 42 percent range in 3-point shooting. I'm talking elite shooters. If you look at last year, [he goes on to lists all the Lakers 3P%.].
"So just because we didn't sign sort of the poster-child shooter that is a specialist and can just make shots, we felt like we assembled a cast of guys that can really shoot the ball but also defend and be versatile. ... |

That and the other thing is that carrying Deng for $5 million instead of giving up a first or so to completely dump his salary next summer is also a detriment. |

I can't believe some of you are still trying to trade the young core for AD when we can sign Kawhi/KD/Klay/Butler for nothing.
Roll with what we have and then when LBJ gets old we can try for him... It's crazy that some of you have no faith in the core. |

For sure.... The young kids have soooo much upside you have to let them play it out....First one we have to make a decision on would be BI. But i think he has shown enough to get the next contract
I wonder what will happen with Ball when its time for the next contract... He is the one i see us trying to get a bargain on...
They will have to pay Kuz... What about Hart tho? |

If we want a franchise type big man we should target Towns, he can be had without giving up the whole youth. |

This assumes that we could have ditched Deng for a "first or so." I'm sure the FO explored that option. That they stretched him is an indication that it would have cost more than a first or so. |

It's going to be very, very interesting to see how this plays out. I'm expecting them to be dead last in both free throw percentage and three-point percentage. As bad as they were last year, they could very easily be even worse this year. _________________ “Christ did not die to forgive sinners who go on treasuring anything above seeing and savoring God. The only way I'd trade a youngster... is if I had inside information that they weren't getting any better. Kind of like what we did with Clarkson, DLO, Randle. So if they determine Lonzo's shot is permanently broken then I'd trust them to make that judgment. But seeing as all of them seem to be progressing nicely... I wouldn't touch a single one and would wait and sign them when their windows open. |

I don't care how good AD is, the idea of a three max team with no youth and 10 minimum contracts sounds awful. Also if you're telling me we have to lose the entire core to get AD then that's not worth it to me.
Let's remember where we came from a little bit here. We didn't think we'd land LBJ but we did. LBJ+another max+young core is perfect. Let's not get greedy.
Also lets not get Paul George syndrome here; we haven't signed the 2nd max player yet. I think having LBJ makes it infinitely more likely we land a max player next summer but then I was absolutely 100% sure PG was coming to LA this summer. |

Based on the amount of teams with cap space in 2019, I agree with you, it probably takes 2 1sts to shed Deng next year. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

I suspect that the price was a 1st plus one or more of the young players. If I was one of the other teams, that’s what I would demand. I wouldn’t rent my cap space for a late first round pick. But that’s a dead horse at this point. |
