This assumes that we could have ditched Deng for a "first or so." I'm sure the FO explored that option. That they stretched him is an indication that it would have cost more than a first or so. |
Based on the amount of teams with cap space in 2019, I agree with you, it probably takes 2 1sts to shed Deng next year. |
I suspect that the price was a 1st plus one or more of the young players. If I was one of the other teams, that’s what I would demand. I wouldn’t rent my cap space for a late first round pick. But that’s a dead horse at this point. |
Yeah, to me, trading Kuz or Hart would be worse than trading another future 1st. They have proven to be rotation level players at worst on 3 more cheap years. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Yeah, I would be inclined to agree, but I'm an optimist I'm expecting FT to be last, but 3-point percentage to be at least league average, we're sleeping on the open shots Lebron creates and KCP/Hart/Kuzma/BI's ability to hit them. The team really didn't have a star last season, and Lebron is, well, Lebron. A friendly gentlemen's bet, they won't be worse than 20th |

Denver was able to unload 19M in salary (Faried+Arther) for only a protected 1st+ and a 2nd on the Nets.
The bottom line is the Lakers valued their picks more than the extra wiggle room we could have had via cap space. _________________ "He's a Zen master, so he can speak to you, and he doesn't need a microphone; you can hear him in your head, 'Ron, don't shoot, don't shoot.' Pretty much. 1 extra pick (or Josh Hart) or 5m in cap space? _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

That extra $5M would have made them competitive with MLE level offers from other playoff teams.
Regardless, the timing of the deal shuts off any possible alternate avenues however low the probability. _________________ Under New Management |

I doubt it. If you look at it objectively there is potential in that area for good production. Kuzma and Hart are good three point shooters and I expect them to get easier looks with Lebron on the team. Lebron himself is a great 3pt shooter, the only perception there is that you think he isn't good. Randle isn't here anymore so he won't bring down the average because of his 10 3s in a season that he usually does. Svi is an elite 3pt and he has a good chance of it translating to the next level. Beasley's numbers are also great and he will get the opportunities if they are there.
I really don't see the argument where we could be the same or worse in 3pt shooting as a team. |

Svi is basically a Reddick type with more skills and versatility. |

Ramona just listed Kawhi's top three destinations next season, in her opinion.
1. Clippers
2. Raptors
3. Lakers |

I have no idea why he wants to play for the Clippers, unless he wants to be the 1st guy to lead them to the finals and make his own legacy, I think once he sees how great we are this year he will be hard-pressed to go to a team that lacks credibility. |

True, at this point just look forward to the season, summer 2019, and hope next year's 1st round pick turns into another inexpensive rotation player. _________________ Under New Management |

Which player would you sign to fill the last void on the roster?
Joakim Noah
Ray Allen
Crawford
J.R. Smith
I want Ray Allen, since he has experience playing with LeBron and knows how to win. |

Sure, but consider that this is also a two way street.
Based on what I have heard, LA is the top choice for Kawhi (nothing guaranteed and could change, but he’s not PG13). If the Lakers are chasing KD or Klay; and land one of those two then Kawhi’s only option in LA is the Clippers.
It takes two to tango, and we don’t know the Lakers list in order of priority. |

Didn't you also suggest 78 year old Larry Brown for new coach after Byron was fired? Gotta keep the young core together... As a matter of fact... I would love to find a way to keep this whole roster together and add Kawhi ... Not sure if its possible.. I know some of the guys would have to be willing to play on a crazy discount for a year or two... But the more I look at this roster... the more I think its a Championship Level Roster and keeping it together and adding Kawhi would be a Dynasty Level Roster |

Yep, they couldn’t make the finals with a 1st-ballot HOF PG and 2 good all star big man in DJ and Griffin, Leonard won’t break there losing curse only a MJ or a LeBron would if there fortunate enough to draft 1. |
