Main issue with Lonzo was that he never looked balanced when taking his shot. Legs and feet all over the place a lot of times. Now he looks much more square to the basket with the reduced motion in his shot and hopefully his lower body will be more consistent. His release also quicker now it seems.

As an aside, Fultz shot looks like it takes forever to get off.

It’s easy to be on balance in practice so we’ll see if that translates to the games. As for Fultz, his shot is still not smooth at all.

The Los Angeles Lakers guard duo of Lonzo Ball and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope were ranked slightly below average by Bleacher Report in their backcourt rankings.

It's also important to consider backups. There is little or no dropoff from Lonzo and KCP to Rondo and Hart. Taking everything into consideration, I expect us to have a top 10 back court by the end of the season.

On that top we should be at least 13

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2795733-nba-metrics-101-ranking-every-starting-backcourt-for-2018-19-season#slide14
NO WAY

Kemba Walker and Jeremy Lamb
Elfrid Payton and Jrue Holiday
Mike Conley and Dillon Brooks
Goran Dragic and Wayne Ellington

are better. One of the player in those pairs should not even be an NBA starter

Bench player maybe, but those are all NBA players. It's probably more about the guy opposite them--All of them either all-stars and/or all-defense. (Was shocked to find Conley never made an all-star game??)

Joys of playing in the Western Conference during the rise of the super guards. And it took Conley about 5-6 seasons to get really good.

Lonzo Ball said getting stronger changed his jumpshot a lot. Said he doesn’t have to “fling it” as much and that getting to the rim is easier.

Quote from article:
Quote:
Bleacher Report touched on Ball’s playmaking and defense as a reason this backcourt excels. Unfortunately, his shooting numbers were so bad, they dragged down his overall numbers. However, if his shooting numbers improve as the Lakers are hoping, that will assuredly push the Lakers’ backcourt into the top half of the league.

Actually, I have a hard time disagreeing with that ranking. Ball shot atrociously. Recall that Ball had 45.1% free throw and 30.8% 3 pt shooting averages. Ouch. Ball's superb defense and rebounding is what pulled them into 17th!! With significant improvement in Ball's shooting this year, which we all expect, that duo could easily be top ten.

Go Lakers!! This is going to be a fabulous year.

He never said it "changed his jumpshot a lot" He said the opposite where there's not as much of a change as people have been saying. But he did say it's a bit more centered

I'm so excited about the Rondo signing. I love that Ball was shocked to see what Rondo could pick apart in a film room. He's going to learn so much from Rondo

Didn't see if anyone posted it, but Lonzo said he has just been cleared for "everything". By the doctors at least. Still up to Luke if he wants to keep him out of 5 on 5.

Did anyone notice, and it doesn't matter at all if noticed, but that the talk is all about Lonzo, and no longer about his pops?

As long as his shot improves I think the kid will be a star.

Is there such a thing as buffing out too much? Sheesh.
I hope the muscles don't affect his shooting

But on a serious note, he's huge. Hoping he's not skipping leg day.

Zo is looking really good. I think he'll shred up a little bit once he starts going 5 on 5 again during training camp. That increased strength n size is going to help him so much going into the paint and on defense.

Yes I could see that!!

Was actually pleasantly surprised to see how noticeably bigger he looks. Seems like he is really trying to improve and succeed.

I think they all hit the weightroom a similar amount.. BI just can't put much on his frame, only incrementally. He should look bigger by his prime though
