We have a new roster. The more minutes/games they play together against other competition the better. We don't have the luxury of chilling in preseason like teams with established rosters. Time to solidify the rotation and get more real game practice under the belt

If anything only Lebron should play limited minutes as he can adapt easily

Get Lonzo back so he can gel

the final 3 preseason games should be

Lonzo 25+ minutes
Hart 30+ minutes
Ingram 30+ minutes
Lebron whatever he wants, but preferably some 2nd half game time
Mcgee whatever he can do physically

6th man Kuz - 30+ minutes

Bench Rotation whatever minutes based on fit and style of play

Rondo
KCP
Lance
Beas (if cleared)
Kuz

4th quarter blowout roster
they are going to Gleague anyways
Svi
Caruso
Bonga
Wear
Johnatan Williams

It's the preseason.

We have so many new players that we need to see what they can do. Without LBJ playing his usual 34-35mpg, it won't matter anyways so why not get extended looks at other players?

No reason why Kuz, BI, and Josh are playing North of 31 minutes (mostly together). The Kings were not trying to win while we were last night. We are going to rely on players like Zu and now is the time to get him minutes. With such a roster turnover, its only natural that there will be growing pains in the beginning of the season.

Have to agree with the post.
The combinations that are going to play together during the regular season are the ones that should have time playing in preseason.
And this is a team overhaul, so they must learn to play together.
Yes, save Lebron and Rondo.

But if the season starts not so well and at the end of the season may be sorry for it.
May loose a good playoff spot if at all.

I wonder how much Luke wanted to nip any 2013 (0-8 in the preseason) comparisons in the bud. They even mentioned it on the broadcast.

Yeah I would agree with this post. I’d like to see LeBron getting out there in the 2nd half some

How will Luke know which combinations will work best unless he tries all the different lineup combinations?

Ideally, the coach should know that he doesn't have all the answers in his brain. He should know that he has to actually see if the ideas in his brain actually work on the court. I think Luke is smart enough to know this.

to me its not about trying to win

you cant practice team defense or even practice offensive sets/certain game situations with constant changes in personnel every 8-12 minutes

no need for extended minutes to players YOU KNOW are going to GLeague

i would have liked to practice a last minute game situation when we played Denver the other day instead of letting bonga or wear try to take a shot

i would prefer luke practice game situations and not worry about the win. you can put lebron in for certain game situations etc...

I don't believe the Kings or any team who plays isn't trying to win.

Are they putting in maximum effort? Of course not, but certainly they're trying to win.

It boosts their morale, even if it's just an exhibition game.

I agree. I understand the old guys not playing though. But Hart, Kuz, and BI should be at 30+ mins.

Somewhat agree. Where I disagree I don’t think anyone except LeBron will play more than 30 minutes. At the pace they will be playing no reason to play that many minutes. Roster is too deep to have anyone except Bron play more than 30.

I think Luke should treat the last preseason game as a dress rehearsal for the regular season. Almost act as if it's a real game and try out the rotations you plan on using to start the season.

Dammit. Stop experimenting when it is time to experiment. Stupid coach.

I disagree with the OP. Now is precisely the time to experiment when a failed experiment doesn’t matter.

Luke should set the rotations and stick to them for 20 games.

we’re experimenting to see if putting in 5 bench players like hockey substitutions and questionable roster combinations that cost us games as well as not starting our best player translates into a viable coaching option.

Luke is one of us, so it’s cool to see him getting an opportunity, but...he is auditioning for his job. If he coaches like last year I predict out by all star break.
