A bit to harsh so I will retract my comment.

Edit: to be clear my comment was too harsh so I removed and it was not directed toward €H£M£$TR¥.

Saw this in Reddit Lakers postgame thread;

https://www.reddit.com/r/lakers/comments/9m2izg/preseason_post_game_lakers_lose_to_the_clippers/e7benoc/

" Did anybody notice Pelinka and Magic talking at the end? Now I'm not a good lip reader but it appeared to me that magic said to Rob " He can't play" and then proceeds to say "Zu". Rob shakes his head in agreement but looks sad and troubled maybe. They did not look very happy. I'm always defending Zu but whoever is his player development coach (bleep) sucks or he sucks at developing Big men. There are simple (bleep) that could've been taught to Zu like for instance don't bring the ball down so small guys can swat at your hands. "

I'd put Travis Wear on the team ahead of him, especially in light of the team's anemic shooting woes.

It was kinda sad watching Zu's post game. He was definitely not the same happy go lucky kid from two years ago, kinda came off like he knows his days are numbered. Maybe it's just a hangover from the flu or whatever he's going through but I hope he can bounce back.

I'm surprised that there are only negative reactions in here tonight. He was good in the first half, but bad in the second. Still, it's progress. If he could just be consistent at doing the most basic things (i.e. catching, finishing around the rim, keeping balls alive, running the floor on occasion, and preventing a layup line) they may not be in dire need of going after another big. If he could just play the way he did in the first half all the time, it would be productive. He just has to be consistent with it.

I wasn't aware that he was still plagued by the illness, so it makes sense that that was impacting his play. He's feeling better now, and he definitely played well in the first half. Again, it's just about being a consistent contributor in the little things. They're not asking him to do much. He only needs to play well in spurts.

Would be nice to see some context to the negative opinions being expressed.

After watching a game I have my own opinions but it's nice to verify what I saw by reading DB's Thought's and Ratings analysis. We don't always match but DB provides context to his analysis and I can see his POV 99% of the time.

I feel his game analysis of Zubac has been fair pointing out the good and the bad. It has been in general no where near as bad as most state here.

We can't count on Zu to be our backup center. I really hope Wagner can play because we have zero toughness inside when he's on the court. He doesn't offer much on offense either.

He is an NBA player, let’s give him a chance to recover so he can show his value as a player.

True on both counts and this applies to essentially all young prospects.

You guys are too impulsive. When he gets actual time, he plays decent. When he gets like less than 10 minutes he's erratic. It's extremely difficult to be consistent under those circumstances. He's being set up to fail a lot like kuzma this preseason.

He will be fine. He is a 21 year old project from a foreign country, not a 30 year old veteran from this country with no hope of development.

Umm...set up to fail? A little extreme, no? Even as someone who at least agrees that he should check into these games earlier, I think it’s way over the top to put it that way. I can get the Kuzma angle (though I still wouldn't agree with that either), but not with Zubac. Whether or not he's even an NBA player is still debatable at this point. He still struggles at doing basic things. That's not a minutes issue.

All we really need from Zubac is 10-15 minutes of solid defense, rim protection, rebounding and the occasional garbage basket. Anything we get from him on jumpers or posting up is frosting.

He's not ready from what I've seen, but the potential is at least there.

He's our second best rim protector by a large margin. He's looked pretty good on offense when Stephenson is on the bench. Give him some time to recover from the virus and put him in a movement offense instead of shake and bake a turnover.

I like zubac but Wagner will probably take all of his minutes. We already have one 7 foot rim protector in McGee. Javale can also run like the wind and catch lobs most people couldn’t reach. He fits into what we are trying to do.

Zubac doesn’t really fit and he has G-leaguers getting as many if not more minutes than him. He’s clearly not going to be part of the rotation.

Wagner gives us a little size, can still run like javale and provides something those other two don’t in 3 point shooting.

Just don’t think zubac gets off the bench much this season tbh

Wagner is an unproven rookie. He could be good, but I wouldn't expect him to fare well getting thrown directly into NBA action until he's had some time to adjust, and play some G League games. I'd be very surprised if he can contribute as our backup center before next spring at the earliest. I'd love to be wrong on that but we'll see.

I’ve heard many naysayers, but, other than game one, I don’t really see Zubac as the pariah he’s being made out to be.

He seems to be an excellent third-string Center, which is exactly what he is.

Why is he an excellent third string Center? Because he is actually good enough to be more.

Zubac is fine in my eyes.

He is 21 years old. We gave him enough time. Waive him immediately.

This kind of argumentation is so bad, man. It's almost cringeworthy.

But okay. I'll bite. So how much longer should he get before we can start holding him accountable for actual results? Another three years?

What I don't understand is why Walton is not giving Zubac more playing time to evaluate him. Being the only other true big man he needs to be evaluated fully.
Kuzma cannot hold that position unless against a real small ball team.
Beasley can maybe hold the fort until a second big man is found.
GWS is not the team to evaluate Zubac with as they play fast and small ball.
Against the better big guys he should be given a lot of playing time to see if he can hold the fort or not.
Have to admit the evaluation time has been small.
