But when's the last time a bona fide MVP candidate was traded?
KL-injured, discontent.
Boogie-not MVP candidate
PG13-not MVP candidate |
Isiah Thomas? |
Also injured.
An in-prime, MVP candidate usually fetches more than what the others got in the trades above. And Dipo was an unusual result as most pundits (including me) thought that Indy was robbed.
AD will be COSTLY, and rightfully so. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Since the Pelicans don’t want to trade him, it would take a massive overpay. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

Yeah. I don't see Pels trading AD this year. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Considering the assets they lost, Thibs's inevitable firing (how has he not totally lost the team at this point? how long do they do wait?) and the leadership void Wiggins and Towns will almost certainly never fill themselves after getting neutered by Butler, that trade may have set the Wolves back 5 years. The Knicks/Melo trade almost looks palatable by comparison. |
not seeking Thibs was a great move by previous FO, whether it was intentional or not. Many on LG begged to hire Thibs....that would have been a disaster. |

Kinda weird and comical that 3 teams last year who were seen as teams on the rise (Wolves/Pelicans/Pacers) might take a step back this year, although there is a argument that Pacers might be better but losing there heart and soul of the team in Lance will hurt them... this is why you gotta be a master when it comes to keeping a team without ruining there moral. |

Wolves for sure and I can see the Pels but the Pacers kept their core and added Tyreke and McDermmot. They are a little better and at worse kept up with the other teams in the East. Pacer Fans seem to miss Lance tho so I'm not sure. |

I would reserve opinion on the Pel's also...Randle, Davis and Holiday have looked good....Payton looked solid the last game. Have to see where they are in January. |

Everyone seems to appreciate what Lance brings to a team, he was very vital to the Pacers sucess last year and even more so when they went to the ECF a couple of years back, Pacer fans know basketball thats why they know what he brings. |

Update on Russell Westbrook: He is still not cleared for full practice and is said to be progressing on schedule. Participating in some “controlled contact” portions of practice. Billy Donovan wouldn’t say whether or not Westbrook is expected to be available opening night.

This madman Thibs was able to do the unthinkable. T'Wolves might have a chance to mess around and make the playoffs or are a disaster and Butler gets traded before the trade deadline. Towns & Wiggins are the biggest losers. |

Gives us a remote shot at Butler after 12/15 FWIW. Not saying I would really want him but a lot can change in two months. Maybe that's Jimmy's new plan. Bounce as soon as the new contracts can be traded.

It doesn’t matter if Minny brings back Butler, they are no where close to the Lakers level, they will be at the Pelicans/Blazers level at most, that is.. if they don’t fall apart as a team. |

Reminds me of Lonzo and LeBron chatting up after the Cavs and Lakers game last year. |
If he's really gonna leave, i don't know why people think he comes here. The Clippers can offer a team of his own, a second max slot for another star, and making the pitch will be the guy that convinced him to leave OKC.
KD/Kawhi on the Clippers? |

I honestly don’t believe the talk that West is all of a sudden gonna bring FAs to the Clippers, he was with Memphis and I don’t recall him ever bringing anyone significant in his timeline, they didn’t even make the finals when they had a nice team. the Warriors were a different story they already had good pieces in place to make a run without West’s guidance. |

Okay, so since you're so beholden to his history, he can only join a juggernaut that's won a title without him. So that rules out the Lakers unless they win this year. Gotcha.
Three years ago you would laughed off the notion of him joining the Warriors since he "had a history of a staying with the team that drafted him." |

He brought KD to the Warriors. Nuff said. He might not have convinced a superstar to come to Memphis, but he might have an easier time bringing one to LA. |
