If I remember correctly Magic mentioned that while they weren't asking him to change his shot he needed to be more in balance and he does look better in this respect. |
Agreed, he looks like he's going straight up consistently (small sample size alert) whereas last season his lower body could be all over the place and his landing point would be different from shot to shot. _________________ Under New Management |

So is Rondo or Zo starting on thursday. I'd think Rondo til Zo is back in shape? Maybe a couple weeks or a month |

I don't think it would take him as long as a month to get in shape. He played 24 minutes in the last preseason game. If he was able to handle that in just his second game, he should be able to get to where he needs to be shape wise a lot sooner as opposed to later. He might come off the bench for the first few games, but I don't expect it to take longer than that for him to get his wind back.
But personally, I'd prefer him to start Thursday, even in limited minutes, since he'll be the eventual starter anyway. I don't think it’d be useful to have he and Rondo building synergy with units that they'll only be with temporarily, because then you'd have to break them up. And if the team struggles out of the gate, as most expect, it's not like you have anything to lose by starting him right away. Just get the transition out of the way in the early part of the season. _________________ “Christ did not die to forgive sinners who go on treasuring anything above seeing and savoring God. I really hope he starts, because we need some level of consistency as soon as possible and is obvious Rondo won't be able to keep the starting job (because our defense will look bad without Lonzo out there) |

Lillard likely gets his regardless, but hopefully Playoff Rondo shows up on Thursday.
Also, not a fan of the decision in general. _________________ Under New Management |

Lonzo is the future. If he wasn't coming off surgery, he'd be the starter. I expect him to be our starter by November. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Don’t like it. Rondo is gonna piss and moan when he gets benched after a few games. Rondo would also work better with the bench rotation than with the starters.
Plus KCP over Hart?
Great start Luke. I can always count on you for being slow at the gate. _________________ Darvin Scam: https://media.tenor.com/images/3c15249955860a4b16b59e8ae035fb75/tenor.gif |

Yeah, let's just ignore how incredible he's been as a leader so far _________________ “Christ did not die to forgive sinners who go on treasuring anything above seeing and savoring God. And people who would be happy in heaven if Christ were not there, will not be there."

Rondo has a history of being the Blazers killer, this is a great move.. we need to stop the losing drought against Portland, cause they should not be having our way every time. |

I knew Zo wouldnt make it to the starting spot by opening night. His conditioning isn't there yet. I mentioned a couple weeks ago that I see Lonzo getting back his starting spot around mid November unless the team is playing outstanding basketball. |

He knows their Offense he calls out their Plays.
Maybe we will be able to hear him on the court. |

That was my initial reaction...the defense on Lillard.
I’m thinking Luke is thinking playoff Rondo destroyed the Blazers. Anyway, Lonzo will probably be the starter sometime this month but now we have to deal with the media narratives of Lonzo the bench player. The fall of BBB... |

It makes sense to start Rondo, since Lonzo even admitted himself that he’s not in game shape. On 11/10 or so, about a dozen games in, we have Sac and ATL back to back, probably the two worst teams in the league. I’d think that 2nd game would be a nice chance to rest Rondo and maybe James too, maybe Lonzo will take the starting job back at that point. |

Based on how Rondo played defense in the preseason he's going to get lit up like a Christmas tree. He's not chasing guys around like he used to.
Rondo starting to begin the season was expected. |

Don't know if you guys remember but last season Lonzo actually gave Lillard the business. He even blocked him a few times. Lillard was noticeably annoyed in one game. Lillard will score because he ball hogs but Lonzo did a good job last season. |

Lonzo's arguably his best on ball denial, which is how he really frustrated Lillard for a couple quarters in that game up in Portland. Unfortunately Lonzo had one of his disappearing offense games from early last season, and Lillard got hot when Lonzo took a blow to start the 4th Q - by the time he got back, Lillard was getting every foul call imaginable and eventually hit the game winner over a solid contest from Zo.
But the flashes on defense were already there for 2-3 quarters, impressive for a rookie against Lillard on the road. Hopefully we see an even better defensive performance on Thursday. _________________ Under New Management |

I hope to see Rondo tire Lillard out, then have a fresh Zo come in and put the clamps on Dame. _________________ "Chick lived and breathed Lakers basketball…but he was also fair and objective and called every game the way it was played."

+1 for a Mookie Blaylock callback. How about Sedale Threatt? More of an on-ball quick hands guy or a passing lanes jumper? Or both? _________________ Under New Management |

Not happy he's not starting (allegedly). He better play 28+ minutes. |

I conquer with the rest, I hope it's a matter of easing Lonzo back into regularly playing basketball. Under no circumstance should Rondo be played over Lonzo when he's 100%.
Lonzo has a massive advantage over Rondo when it comes to defense. Rondo has been a bit overrated as a defender for years now, while Lonzo is already one of the best PGs on defense.
Rondo's slight advantages in other places don't come close to making up the large difference in defense. He's a slightly better play-maker. And, he doesn't score nearly enough for his higher efficiency to matter. |

Why? He's not fully recovered yet. |
