It's not something I personally fear because I grew up in a multi-cultural area going to multi-cultural schools. So it's hard for me to understand why other white people are so afraid.

And then I saw something on Twitter that made sense. They are afraid that when people of color and women are "in charge" we will treat them as badly as they treated us. They are projecting their own worst flaws and impulses onto everyone else. I don't know anyone who wants to "hurt them back." We just want everyone to be treated equally.

Yeah, I've been saying this for a while. Projection. What would we do? That and losing the power even to a benevolent other is still losing the power.

You can't imagine Obama doing it.

Party of morals and personal responsibility. Do as I preach not as I do.

I see so many what ifs comparing Obama to Trump. Why? The answers are so obvious. Obama is a Black Man. Trump is a White Racists (My Opinion). What's glossed over is the country is 62.06% White, 77.35%. White Americans (including White Hispanics). I constantly ask myself, how far have we really come?

I HAVE A DREAM

How far have we really come? We're on an open chat room composed of a large percentage of White Americans, openly speaking about issues of the racist scum within our midst, and the disapproval of the scum and their king is pretty much universal. We clearly aren't where we need to be, but it really wasn't that long ago that addressing these issues in an open forum would have turned this joint into stormfronts basement. So there's definitely been progress, and we'll all just have to continue to work together in the post Chump world to break out the firehose and blast the trumpians back under the rocks they'd been hiding under all these years.

Quote:
On Monday night, President Donald Trump's 2020 re-election campaign announced that it had raised in excess of $18 million over the past three months, a haul that means the incumbent has already raised $106 million for a race that is more than two years away.

That's a stunning -- and totally unprecedented -- amount of money for a sitting president to have collected less than two years into his first term.
Look, I get it. Money has become so plentiful in American politics -- every two years cash floods the system through a variety of super PACs and other newfangled entities aimed at skirting campaign finance law -- that there's a tendency, even among political junkies, to get a little glassy-eyed when it comes to talk of unprecedented amounts of money being harvested earlier and earlier in the election cycle.

Massive Warchest

Those who think 2020 will be a cakewalk are in for a rude awakening. All those rich folks who Trump shoveled money into the pockets of are already ponying up big time. The level of feces that's going to get dropped on Democratic challengers is going to be unprecedented. It's going to be a long ugly ride...

Republicans who stand up to Trump should be commended, but I am very skeptical of those who only object to him on style points. Ana Navarro basically worshipped George W Bush, so she can spare me about the high road and what she finds distasteful. Democrats should be careful about their newfound friends on the Right they lend credibility to and quote as some kind of authority.

Yep. Though I have found Ms Navarro refreshing during her appearances on CNN and elsewhere, we progressives and liberals must never forget that Trump's greatest flaw is not that he is a total arsehole jerk, or that he is a bully, or that his total lies in about 2 1/2 years are approaching the total for all presidents combined, or that he is a narcissist, or that he is a misogynist, or that he is a racist, or that he is a homophobe, or that he is a bigot, or that he is a xenophobe.

No. His greatest flaw is that he is a Republican.

Indeed. Most of these people were pushing the same destructive policies, and selling the same racism (just in more polite code), and gerrymandering and suppressing votes before trump showed up.

America has been a veiled plutocracy for some time. Bernie preached get money out of politics. It didn't and won't happen until our elected official think more country than wealth and party.

Get these families, to name a few, out of politics, then maybe there will be a chance.

The Walton Family (Wal-Mart) Estimated Wealth: $151.5 to $174.5 billion. ...
The Koch Brothers (Koch Industries) Estimated Wealth: $120 billion. ...
The Mars Family (Mars) ...
Bernard Arnault & Family (LVMH) ...

Karl & Theo Albrecht Jr. ...
The Dumas Family (Hermes) ...
The Kamprad family – IKEA.

Doesn't matter what system you put in, those with the most resources/money have always been able to establish more control than those without. It's a logical extension of the concept of money.

That’s called a dictatorial system or coroporatocracy which this country has pretty much become. A democracy, which is what this country was supposed to be is ‘a government for the people and by the people’’ remember that one? Sounds laughable and hardly the case now.

This is just a naked power grab by the rich corporations, nothing more. The only candidate with enough guts to talk about it was Sanders.

There are lots of candidates not taking PAC money and and who talk about income inequality among other types of inequality: racial inequality, gender inequality, etc. Just because Bernie focused on one aspect of inequality doesn't automatically make him braver or purer. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

More than 1,300 still missing in Florida after Hurricane Michael

Quote:
Rescuers said Tuesday more than 1,300 people in the Florida Panhandle have not officially been accounted for, now several days after Hurricane Michael hit.

Michael hit a week ago as a Category 4 storm -- uprooting trees, tearing through homes and flooding neighborhoods. At least 19 people have died as a result of the storm, officials said.

CrowdSource Rescue, a group that formed last year when Hurricane Harvey hit Texas, connects volunteer rescuers with people using mapping and dispatching technology.

The group said it has open cases for 800 missing adults, 141 children and 396 elderly -- for a total of 1,337 people. Crews have already rescued nearly 1,500.

Thank you.
I just use Google News and no mention get about how many missing

I should've known Google would help hide (bleep)

*true story. When Abu Ghraib photos were being released I looked for them using Google images. Google had them date censored temporarily in America to only show PRE Invasion images.
I changed my IP to Australia and Germany etc and the images were visible
I wrote them and they told me the net spiders do it all on their own and they didn't know why it happened.

Watching Rachel tonight and it turns out the whole Gary Hart affair that knocked him out of the Democratic primary WAS A REPUBLICAN SET-UP AND HIT JOB by GW Bush's campaign's Lee Atwater. It wasn't true. He didn't have an affair. The National Enquirer photo was a set-up. He had to fold, then Dukakis lost to GW Bush. The Bush people didn't think they could win against the charismatic Hart so they took him out. (These operatives took their secret to the end and only confessed on their death beds via new story in Atlantic magazine.)

This is who Republicans are. All these years later it still makes me furious. If they don't think they can win, they cheat. And they are still doing it.

Here's another good one. Early voting started in Georgia today, so of course:

Black senior citizens ordered off Georgia bus taking them to vote

Quote:
Government officials in an east Georgia county told about 40 African-American senior citizens to get off a bus taking them to vote Monday, leading to complaints of voter suppression.

The bus, run by the group Black Voters Matter, was preparing to depart from a senior center operated by Jefferson County when the center’s director said they needed to disembark, said LaTosha Brown, a co-founder of Black Voters Matter.

A county clerk had called the senior center raising concerns about allowing the bus to take residents from the senior center in the city of Louisville, south of Augusta.

Quote:
Black Voters Matter had received permission in advance for the event at the senior center, Brown said. The event was originally intended to encourage seniors to vote, and when some of the seniors asked whether they could ride the bus to an early-voting location, Black Voters Matter agreed to take them.

Racism is frightening if a person even thinks it through for a few minutes

I was thinking to myself that I don't care what age I am I will raise one hell of a ruckus and call the Governor or Attorney General on the spot.. if some person wants to kick me off the bus and treat me like an object

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^But I am WHITE^^^^^^^^^^

I imagined if I was African American/Black etc... and I tried to stand up for my rights as an American but Whitey just looked at me and didn't give a (bleep)

Can any white people imagine with me for a moment that you know wherever you go a very high percentage of Protectors of the Peace look at you SUSPECT.. just because of your skin color.. you are just consciousness.. not a color.. but THEY scare the (bleep) out of you because of what you see them do to your Brothers and Sisters

Ana Navarro would support a squirrel running for office if someone would cut her a check big enough. She is one of CNN's resident Trump haters. If she claims to be a Republican, that is fine by me....she can be whatever she chooses, but I have almost never heard her strongly support conservative positions. She is from Nicaragua, and chose the Republican party because Reagan supported the Contras in the Nicaraguan Revolution. She came to Florida and grew up with close ties to the Cuban American community, which helped her to become part of Jeb Bush's team. I strongly suspect if the South Florida Cuban American community was populated by Democrats in the 1980's, she would claim to be a Democrat.
