Cronenberg's the Fly used to scare me as a kid. I haven't watched it since. That arm wrestling scene...

Saw that when it came out, always been a fave. You know another, even scarier movie with arm wrestling that I also saw about a year later? OVER THE TOP! That was scary for other reasons.

Anyway, the victim was former heavyweight boxer George Chuvalo. He fought all the big names in the 60s, Ali, Foreman, Frazier, etc. He had a hard head, went the distance with prime Ali twice.

Exorcist for me. Saw that as a kid and it scared the crap out of me. I remember watching the director's cut years later and that scene of her crawling backwards down the stairs...

I'm not really into the horror genre but do enjoy good SciFi--or sometimes even bad SciFi. As such, my suggestion would be Alien.

BUMP I finally watched A Quite Place tonight. It started slow, no dialog. It was more suspense than horror. The ending left a lot to the imagination. Evelyn Abbott jacking off that shot gun lead me to believe there's going to be A Quiet Place II.
