The somewhat disappointing thing is, this is just how the team is designed right now. We lost two of our better defenders, both being part of the frontcout, with one adept in rebounding and the other adept at boxing out and never looked toward replacing that void sufficiently. As great as McGee has been so far, it's still questionable whether he can play big minutes consistently, but since almost anyone else playing his role will provide a mismatch against this team, he'll have to.

This is unacceptable. We have decent defenders so it has to be the defensive scheme. This falls on Luke and he better get this fixed. We definitely need a back up center and I hope the FO get this taken care of on 12/15. The Williams experiment is obviously not working.

If you want to know the real cause of our loses, look no further. Also ranked 25th in 3PT FG%. But we don't need shooters right? We can't do what GS is doing. Lets go get some play makers who can't shoot instead.

What do our 3 point shooters (or lack thereof, per your assessment), have to do with our overall defense and specifically, perimeter defense?

We clank more 3s which allows the defense to grab the board and go thru our Swiss cheese defense on the other end.

Interesting way to characterize what seems to me to be a rebounding problem rather than a 3 point shooting problem. Using your reasoning then a remedy would be for us to cut back on our 3 point shooting -- definetly not the answer.

We need to offensive rebound better.

As for our 3 point shooting, I'm pretty sure our shooting percentage from behind the arc is improving. In addition, we have one of the most efficient offenses in the league. We're in the top five in scoring per game and overall shooting percentage. We may be one of the few teams in the league whose offense kinda doesn't "need" 3 point shooting as much as others, at least so far.

and our rebounding.

Two things we're severely behind on this year and is costing us big time.

Definitely hurt REBOUNDING. However our defense sucked with or without Randle.

Is 17.2% rebounding rate good?

Yeah. Actually that;s been a nice narrative attempt, but when you dig deeper it just does not hold up to scrutiny. The Lakers are also #1 in points in the paint, and have no problems getting high percentage shots in the painted area. In fact, they are on a historic pace in that regard. If they focused on what they do well (points in the paint) instead of attempting to challenge the futility of what they do poorly (3 pt shooting), then based on their current offensive efficiency (also near the top of the league) then they'd score an additional 11 2 point opportunities per game. That's an additional 22 points per game by working for a quality in the paint two, which they are exceptionally good at, as opposed to zero points scored when they miss the three on those possessions. In EVERY single game this season, that would have resulted in a W instead of an L. Will that beat Golden State? Nope. Will that beat pretty much every other team in the league> Yep, you betcha.

Basic rule in life, concentrate on that which you're good at and try to mitigate that which you aren't.
