Not that I think we should, but realistically what would a Kemba trade cost us? And would the thought be that we'd have Kemba's bird rights and could still sign another max guy like Kawhi in addt to bringing back Kemba?

Trading for him means bye bye to 2019 max FA. This is why it won't happen.

I thought we could still afford a max FA but that we'd have to shed quite a bit of salary in the Kemba trade (I think it was Joe who proposed this).

joe mentioned trading lonzo + BI + Wagner + pick for Kemba. Thats a lot to give up for kemba and make space for imaginary max.

if we are doing that trade i would like to get their pick Miles Bridges and future pick

especially when you could use the cap space next summer, then use those same assets to acquire a 3rd star if needed.

I agree.

I like Kemba. But i love the fact that his cap hold is only 18m. Means we can still go after Kawhi/Durant/whomever.

Big differences though. KD is a 38m max; KL is a 32m max. So that extra 6m is huge especially b/c the Lakers would be 6-7m short of a 32m max if they traded for Kemba.

I dont think KD comes anyways. And I want Kawhi.

So you want to play GSW at full strength instead of taking one of their best weapons and improving?

I was just about to post almost the exact same thing . Even down to Mitch not being the type to hold grudges.

We're talking about Kemba only b/c his cap hold is much lower than Jimmy's (would eat the max space right up).

OK. Thx.

Though if we can only get one player I would prefer Butler

Gotta love how he sits out games with "soreness" but when playing the Lakers? He's like a prime Michael Jordan.

he is not opting in....he will want max dollars and his cap hold would be right near his max money.....we would not have any significant cap room left.

hypothetical question: If he opts in how much we have left?

if he opts in, after how many months, we can extend him?

if he opted in, I think we would have near $15ish Million in cap space....and I do not know the rules about extending/resigning

its nov 8, so KCP will be elligible to be traded in 1month or so.

I would love to go get butler, if it takes only KCP/Wagner/Beazy and future protected pick

I think Minny can do better than that. Even the Houston package is much better than that.

What is KCP/Beez going to do for them now, and a protected pick which will be in the late 20s? And Wagner? They have KAT.

Beasley doesn't come across as a Thibodeau type of player.

Why would he want to sign an extension?

58. Can existing contracts be extended?

Quote:

The salary in the first year of a veteran extension may be any amount up to 120% of the player's previous salary5, or 120% of the estimated average salary (see question number 31), whichever is greater, but no more than the player's maximum salary in that season (i.e., the maximum salary the player can receive if he were to sign a new contract that year as a free agent -- see question number 23).

I think Minny would want BI/KCP (filler)/future 1st as a beginning deal.

However, BI/Wiggins seem redundant.

Imo no team is gonna trade us an allstar without demanding a package centered around BI, Kuzma or both.

I don't see KD coming either. If he leaves GSW, it won't be to help LeBron win more rings. He'd look for his own team if he's satisfied with 3 rings.

I don't think teams value Kuz over BI. IMO they probably value the team's assets:

1. BI
2. Lonzo (not for everyone, thanks Dad Ball).
3. Kuz
4. Hart

just a hypothetical....if Cleveland offered George Hill and a 2019 1st Round pick swap for a KCP and Lonzo or BI (either one, you can pick)....would you consider it? Likely nets a top 3 pick next summer (RJ, Zion, etc.)
