Interesting stat here if my eyes don't deceive me;

The Lakers rank #14 in the NBA in 3 pt shooting at 35.3%

This in spite of LeBron shooting under 30% on 5.5 attempts per game.

If you subtract LeBron's 3 pt shooting so far this year, and the rest of the Lakers are collectively shooting 36.9% so far from 3.

That would rank 8th best in the NBA in 3 pt shooting after 11 games.

So.. uh... yeah. Too bad we didn't surround LeBron with any shooters.

And that's with Kuz shooting well below average at 31%. Offense is just fine and should easily be top 5 soon enough.

From the eye test, I see a lot of potential in this team, there are some times where you fell they could be elite (offensively AND defensively) despite James coasting offensively and playing almost no defense... Still optimistic for the season !!!

We're trending up in a lot of good categories. You can see that roles are becoming more settled and they are playing better together.

We got away from the delusion that small-ball at a high Pace was wave of the future. In fact, I think the league as a whole did the same thing, but we had cranked it up to 11.

Small ball with an elite defender at the middle is still a great move imo.
Unfortunately we had Kuz, Williams and Beasley prior to Tyson.
We're still going 4 guards with Tyson as our 2nd unit though which is a small lineup no?

Yeah. Luke has shorten the rotation, we know better what the new guys can or cannot do.

Smaller, sure, but it's not small-ball if you have a genuine center in the middle. Four guards and a center is just a variation on Moreyball.

I clearly remember when Pelinka laid out the reasons the FO was confident with the 3pt shooting once LeBron signed, and the roster was pretty much finalized.

He looked at the fact that Hart was proficient, KCP, once he warmed up as he is now, shot well, BI shot well, Lonzo was coming off his only season at UCLA in which he shot 41% from three, Lance was decent, we drafted Svi & Wagner, etc.,

They felt confident adding LeBron to that mix.

FYI:

Lakers’ 3-point shooting has been surprisingly solid

Quote:
For the past few months, national pundits have warned us that the Los Angeles Lakers would be a bad 3-point shooting team, based on the additions they made this summer. So far, it looks like that may not be the case.

We would be top 2 in OffRtg if we had even an avg efficiency half court offense instead of one of the worst

We could be an offensive juggernaut if we ran good sets in the halfcourt and our guys shot to expectation. It’s no shock to be an offensive juggernaut when you have the best player in the league surrounded by solidly talented offensive players, a deep team at that.
Instead we’ll be a top 5-7 offense but not truly imposing/borderline dominating on O. I’m glad Magic saw the stagnant halfcourt O , and wants Luke to get more experienced assistants.

THIS

My Brother tried to bring up that "Lakers have no Shooter" BS. We have guys that can score inside. That is a lot more important in a playoffs series when the 3s stop falling.

Ask Houston!

Even the announcers yesterday thought the Lakers didnt have enough shooters.
They seem to think you need a guy who's only known for shooting and sucks at everything else.

I realize that I'm in the minority, but I have great news: the LeBron you see now is not the LeBron we'll see in about another month. I honestly believe that he's in great shape, but not great basketball shape.

The difference will be evident as he gets his legs and lift. Those three pointers will be easier to shoot, even though he makes it look easy right now.
