This should be a win but the Jazz will be pumped for this game, they are still a playoff team although probably more like the 1 that makes the 8th seed.

Opportunity to dig a bigger hole for the struggling Jazz. Imo it's important to keep them down especially since it seems like the overlooked Clippers, Grizzlies, Kings and Mavs intend to hang around the playoff race.

True, the Jazz have been sucking lately, (losing to the Mavs by 50!!!), but teams seem to switch gears and play the Lakers tough, so after barely beating a team that has won two games all year, this will not be a cake-walk for the Lakers...!

I will not be surprise if we lose this one. Hope that our guys will be engaged defensively. Utah will come strong on us, they are not looking good. There is no better place to start building something than LA. Hope we will be ready. They are good team and well coached.

I also suspect the Jazz will be amped for this game.

It's a totally different ball game against Gobert now that we have Tyson Chandler to platoon with Javale McGee. I expect a very interesting matchup in the paint this game, and it's no longer one-sided.

If Lonzo shows the offensive fire he showed against Cleveland, and the rest of this Laker squad rekindles some of the fire that was missing in the Cleveland game, then this is going to be a good matchup start to finish and a Laker win.

It depends on which Laker squad shows up. Lakers by 2 sounds about right.

Now that they've ended their losing streak against Portland, hope they can do the same for their current one against Utah. Haven't beaten them since Kobe's final game.

Is it fair to say that the Jazz are finally missing what Hayward was giving them? I would think if Hayward was still a Utah Jazz they would be in the playoffs right now, Mitchell has been a major disappointment, seems like Ingles is the only guy who has taken a big step this year.

Utah is coming in fired up; let's just hope that we are fired up too. It should be an exciting match-up.
Our perimeter defense will need to be solid tonight and it's a good thing we have the McGee-Chandler tandem to somewhat neutralize Gobert.

Yet another one those "must win" and/or "trap games."

Not sure why, but I have always had an extreme dislike for Utah Centers; going back to Mark Eaton against Kareem, then Osterhack against Shaq and now Gobert...

But the Laker centers have shown they can stand their own and beat Denver and Portland (both with top centers), so I'm hoping the trend continues...

Preview: Jazz (8-10) at Lakers (10-7)

Date: November 23, 2018 10:30 PM EDT
http://www.vegasinsider.com/nba/scoreboard/previews/jazz-@-lakers.cfm/date/11-23-18

Quote:
The Utah Jazz were one of the best defensive teams in the NBA last season. They were one of two teams that held their opponents to fewer than 100 points per game during the regular season.

The Jazz haven't been as stifling on the defensive end this season, and they'll face one of the hotter offensive teams in the NBA when they visit the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night at Staples Center........

A key matchup in this game figures to be in the middle between Lakers centers JaVale McGee and Tyson Chandler and Utah center Rudy Gobert.

McGee is off to the best start of his 12-year career, averaging 13.4 points and 6.6 rebounds. He hasn't averaged more than 6.1 points or 3.9 rebounds in the past five seasons.

Chandler, who cleared waivers and signed with the Lakers on Nov. 6, has given Los Angeles a valuable boost on the defensive end.

Gobert, the NBA Defensive Player of the Year last season, is averaging 15.1 points and 12.9 rebounds, joining Andre Drummond of the Detroit Pistons, Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers, Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks and Anthony Davis of the New Orleans Pelicans as the only NBA players averaging more than 15 points and 12 rebounds this season.

The Lakers say Josh Hart has a strained tendon in his left ankle and is questionable for Friday vs Utah. The team will re-evaluate him before the game to determine if he can play
