|
|
Hey fellas! Attended today’s Lakers game, first time this season since 2014. I’ve written some observations of the bench in the past.
One thing I’ll say off the top is that this team seems real close, and they seem to have a lot of fun compared to other Lakers team I’ve noticed attending live games since 2005.
LeBron - he’s definitely a coach out there. Whenever Luke is drawing up a play it’s usually LeBron going over the board with Luke, asking questions or going over with his teammates what is being drawn up. He also has a lot of fun with the young guys. He interacts with all his teammates especially Kuzma and Hart.
Rondo - like LeBron he is also in there chatting a lot. He literally was in every coaching huddle talking to the other players as Luke would be going over plays too. He talks with everyone from Lonzo to Mo.
Kuzma - he talks a lot. He’s always either talking with LeBron, Hart, Lonzo, Beasley, McGee, Rondo or Luke or one of the assistants. He talks with LeBron a lot asking LeBron about something almost every timeout and LeBron would be pointing out things on the floor for him and they would joke around too. He and LeBron took turns guarding each other on warm ups.
Hart - kind of like Kuzma. He definitely is always asking questions too. He talks with Kuzma a lot they seem real cool with each other.
Ingram and Lonzo - they are both definitely listeners, they were more quiet and observants of the game. They seem to have the same demenor, rather than keep asking questions like Kuzma/Hart, they would say maybe a few words then nod their heads a lot when the coaches or the vets tell them something. But they do have fun too and would joke around with their teammates especially in the 4th quarter once the game was at hand. LeBron would just nudge Ingram and whisper something to him and get him to laugh.
McGee and Chandler - every timeout these guys are out there giving fist bumps high fives chest bumps, whatever! They’re just always out there talking and trying to pump up their teammates. It’s good to see both our vet big guys do that.
Mo - he’s probably the one having the most fun out there. He’s also like McGee and Chandler and that he’s always out there high fiving everyone every timeout.
These were just the main observations about some of the players. Anyway good fun game. And the best part is, Lakers win. Lakers are undefeated when I attend a game, the streak continues. _________________

Thanks for the observation, do you feel this team has top notch chemistry just by looking at them in person? |

I’d say so. When we were down 15-17 in the first, the players on the bench got serious and vocal. LeBron, Rondo, McGee and Chandler basically the vets they were just coaching or pumping up their teammates. They seem really close. They have fun but they get serious. _________________

Always great to see that stuff. Rarely get to see those dynamics unless you’re the Warriors and publicly feuding. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

LeBron and Rondo are great influences on the team. Very impressive from both. I’m glad LeBron is a Laker he’s literally changing outlooks of games _________________ "We are the goodest." - Shaq ESPN interview |

Well thats what was missing since Kobe left. Instead they had major influencers like Nick ruining our guys like JC, DLO, and to some extent JR |

I think Luke does not get enough credit for his ability to help a team bond on a personal level. He came here stating that he wanted players to feel like family. He would set up team bonding events on the road.
The GS players loved Luke, they were all sad he left. He was like the glue guy assistant coach. Never heard any locker room issues in GS until after the year he left. KD would probably enjoy this locker room a lot more than the Warriors one.
Luke was also one of the favorite teammates from the 09 10 championship teams along with LO. |

I was there today and I cant agree more. I was a few rows back from the bench and the genuine bond they have is something I dont think I have ever seen from the Laker teams I have been around. The young kids are obviously tight but so much of the credit goes to Lebron. If hes faking it then hes a hell of an actor but the general way he embraces his teammates is different then anything I have experienced seeing during my time at Staples.
I wasnt ever a huge Lebron fan but I can see why people enjoy playing with him. _________________ *Paging Mike "Doo Doo" Brown to the front desk*

LeBron looks so much happier here than last year in Cleveland I think he's enjoying playing with the young fellas and being a mentor. |

Yes, I totally agree. Luke's personality is perfect for this group of players. Players with strong leadership like Rondo and Lebron will be a nightmare if not managed properly. But Luke's approach to letting them be the leader has been perfect, IMO. |
