I wouldn't even touch him in the 1st round. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

First thought, depending on where the Lakers draft, I'd arguably want to trade down. If it's above 20, I may want to keep it. If it's #24 or so, I want to trade down for 2 2nds.
Second thought, whatever perceived BPA is. The thing about the NBA draft is, there is no real formula, rather certain theories or thought processes that yield above average results. The Lakers draft history dating back to 2014 has actually been stellar.
The only difference is waiting on the prospects to come around.
Other guys have splashed onto the scene and I haven't caught up with enough game tape as I like, whether it's Markus Howard, Haliburton, Gafford, Coby White (most interesting guy here), Brazdeikis, Kerwin Roach, Ty Jerome (here's your Kevin Huerter-type), Jordan Poole (big fan), Charles Matthews (bigger fan), etc.
Otherwise, my general prospect list was made prior to the season starting, and it's in my signature. There are certain guys that have flown up the draft board, others have dropped, others may not get drafted. But for the most part, that's the group of guys I do like. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

FWIW, if you want guys with less system adjustment to the league, Iowa State has 4 guys.
Big guards
Ball movement
3 ball heavy
transition play.
Super long on defense; high deflection/steal/block rates _________________ Resident Car Nut.

May I ask why?
I can't. I'm already tired of watching BI get pushed around and he's more physically developed. If it was a perimeter player, at least I'd understand. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

He can be a younger version of Javalee McGee with 3 point skills.. |

I disagree.
He can't actually defend a player physically. I think I have a legit shot at scoring against him just because I'm more dense, and he's got a foot and a half on me.
Personally, I think he developed all of his perimeter skills because he couldn't deal with the physicality in the paint or anywhere near it. So, he got used to limited touches/limited touch time/shooting over guys. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

Zion will be the best draft pick in over a decade. I have a feeling the Cavs could get him. Seems like whenever a superstar leaves a franchise that franchise lands #1 pick. _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold. |

Re-reviewed his defense clips. I agree with you. |

tbh, I only caught 3 of his games. You can play him to zone an area defensively, and he'd be great at it, but it's difficult to see him in the playoffs trying to be physical along the perimeter or paint. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

Just curious. What is your take on Austin Wiley and Aric Holman as possible big man first round pick? |

I haven't seen enough of either but it just seems there's so many pick and roll dive men and they all do similar things so certain aspects need to stick out.
1. Jaxson Hayes - athletic freak, but not a physical player
2. Bruno Fernando - misused as a post player for Maryland, not the super elite leaper, but AWESOME footwork on PnR hedge and potential switch defender
3. Daniel Gafford is similar to Wiley
Those are the top 3 guys I would think would be in the 1st. I do have questions about Wiley being incredibly high USG, but I do remember he declared in last year's draft and I liked him then. I just have concerns about turnover rate/assist rate. That's just looking at the numbers.
Holman, OTOH, needs to be considerably more explosive. That's dunking by reach.
This is a big reason why I want to trade down though.
Shamorie Ponds
Coby White
Iggy Brazdeikis
Charles Matthews
Jordan Poole
Cameron Johnson
Matisse Thybulle
Carsen Edwards
Ty Jerome
... Basically I'm super comfortable with each of these guys bringing 1 to 2 NBA level skills. PnR dive guys I look for different skill sets that aren't highlighted, like short roll passing, low turnover rates, the types of blocked shots they get, overall rebounding rates.
Like, what's the difference between Thomas Bryant and Wiley or Holman outside of the 3pt shot? It feels like a dime a dozen, just people don't want to wait on their development.
Bagley and Mo Bamba are considerably more talented, but providing little to no impact on their respective teams. Even Mitchell Robinson and Robert Williams are barely blips. At least Robinson is the most immediate impact, but he can't even stay on the floor with the foul trouble. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

Sounds like Sagaba Konate may not return this season. I think he only played in 2-3 games this season. Some speculation is he still thinks he can go pro, and other speculation that he will seek a medical red shirt.
Not really sure how he could return....we have a Freshman coming in that is better than him, and a emerging Freshman stud playing PF this season that will not be going to the bench. |

He is a perimeter player. A team would need to work around his defensive deficiencies in creative ways - zone? - and pair him with a unique frontcourt partner, but he's so gifted as a perimeter scorer at his size that he's easily worth a flier at the #18 pick or whatever.
The only thing giving me pause is his foot stress fracture, but I'd still take a roll of the dice after seeing Embiid's return to health. I can understand teams in the top-10/lottery being wary, but what do the Lakers have to really lose? A chance at another Josh Hart (if they're lucky)? _________________ Under New Management |

I like the idea of drafting Bol Bol... because then, we'd be able to say we have someone with Bols. _________________ "Now, if life is coffee, then the jobs, money & position in society are the cups. Oh yes. And one of his last scoring plays in the 2nd half where he exploded past his man off a curl, got bumped with no call, and made a scoop layup.
He's super special. _________________ Under New Management |
