Good. Trade the stat padder for Kawhi

I'm flabbergasted that the stat padder moniker can stick at this point.

Check this out for stad-padding: for his career, LeBron's teams are 24-54 when he doesn't play.

i'm down for this. i don't think Magic will against this move compare to what he did with Jerry West. Riley and Magic's relationship has been well documented, if Magic would to bring any outsider to co-run this team with him, that only person is Riley. but i doubt Riley will ditch the Heat ownership to run our team unless Buss family gives up some ownership stake as well.

I know Jeanie was interested in having Riley come back a few years ago, but I think this is a rumor just like most other Lakers rumors. Far fetched and unlikely to happen.

The only possibility for Pat to come home is if he's retiring and just want some consulting spot, like Logo. Still, maybe too many cooks in the kitchen.

But, Spoelstra would be a nice addition in the off season. I couldn't find anything about his contract nor any news of relationship problems in Miami, but I would keep his name on the radar.

Because he actually knows how to run and build a team?

It's crazy.... but not THAT crazy. I think Riley wants to win one more title and a team with Lebron is much closer than what he has in Miami. He and Magic can do the ring drop thing together when they're pitching FAs.

LOL at this rumor... Pat Riley IS the Miami Heat franchise. He's not giving that up. Literally no reason to do so. He's built that thing from the ground up and is the unquestioned dictator there. Not to mention, Miami is one of the few destinations that rivals LA is desirability. He's won more championships doing things his way in the last 15 years than even what we have.

Absolutely ridiculous rumor.

ESPN started running with a story yesterday about Riley and Spo's time in Miami could soon be coming to an end.

That specific kind of story made me think about the rumor in this thread.....

We'll see if it gains more traction, but it's interesting to say the least.

i disagree, Magic won't relinquish that role to someone like Jerry West, or Phil Jackson, BUT he will do so with Riley. those two have gone way back, i truly believe Riley is the only person in the league Magic respects to step aside for him.

First of all why would Pat Riley give up his ownership stake with the Heat? If he's not getting anything similar with the Lakers, it's a moot point.

True. Also, it'd be pretty messed up of Riley to trade their picks for the next decade while saddling the team with a bloated salary cap and then just pick up and leave.

What’s the difference between your analogy and Jim and Mitch screwing up the Lakers future by trading all those picks in the Nash trade and signing Moz/Deng on 2 bloated deals and then leaving? It sounds like the same situation.

A Magic/Pelinka/Riley front office would be the best management team in pro sports.

Throw in a HOF coach in Spo and you're looking at multiple championships over the next 4 years.

Spo and Riley are such power players I would even be excited just to see what they could do with our team AS IS.

And I think you guys understand my dislike for BI and Hart at this point.

Theyre THAT good.

First of all, I didn't make an analogy. You're making an analogy and a terrible one at that. Jim and Mitch were fired. Riley would be negotiating his own exit.

I know what I said and I know that Riley would be exiting on his own, my point was that, every departure has it’s own reasons and there is no point for a 74 year old Riley staying in a rebuilding situation.. he’s better off coming to a place he’s very familiar with..

I was looking into the 10% ownership stake that Pat Riley had in the Miami Heat.

From what I can tell, Pat Riley is no longer in the ownership group.

Quote:
Riley had an ownership stake with the Heat, but he sold it back years ago to the Arisons

This would clear up a lot of the path for Riley to come back to the Lakers if he and Magic can find roles to coexist.

I don't think the Lakers can offer any sort of ownership stake to Riley (or would they want to) since ownership is broken up 4 ways between the Buss Family Trust, Anschultz, Roski and Soon-Shiong.

I'd definitely take Spo over Walton every day.

Check this out for stad-padding: for his career, LeBron's teams are 24-54 when he doesn't play.

how many of those were when one/both of Wade&Bosh/Irving&Love didnt play either though? in his 1st stint in Cleveland, they were 8-18 without him, and had a 2 year stretch when they went 6-1 without him from 2005 to 2007. and that without a 2nd allstar
